Finally, you can take more than one friend into Secret World Legends’ Occult Defense scenario as of today

Fans of Stonehenge and grouping in Secret World Legends, your prayers have been answered and the teases were true: With today’s update, Funcom has turned the Occult Defense scenario back into the five-man ordeal it once was in the original game, where previously in the reboot it was a solo- or duo-only affair.

Do note that Funcom is also rolling out a year-long Patron bundle that doesn’t quite have all the kinks worked out.

“Part of today’s update introduces a new 12-month Patron Bundle. We discovered an issue where players who purchased the DLC on Steam won’t get their items. Anyone who bought the DLC on Steam this morning will receive their goods when the issue is patched tomorrow.”

Pretty ballsy FunCom a 12 month Patreon sub with expanding one scenario to a five man?

Where’s the transparency and communication that was promised?
Where’s the new content?
What happened to the dev livestreams?

Truly a great game, one of the best in more than a decade, but FunCom what a disappointment your handling of TSW and now SWL.

Fuck off Funcom. I loved The Secret World all the way until the end of Tokyo. I really loved that world. It would be better off shut down than this. Selling 12 month subs without announcing a single story update.

This patch is in so many ways insulting, I decided to reduce my SWL playtime to “login to collect key” from now on until Funcom delivers some story again.

Now you just need to find a friend that actually plays this game.

I gave it a go for a few days and quit. Seems like if it was a single player experience, it would’ve been better, but for MMO seems pretty bland. The starting zone is OK, but I expected when I moved to the second zone, it will look different, but it looks identical.

From what I know the game has NA East Coast, London, Japan, Egypt and recently South Africa. But if all NA East Coast zones are the same, then I suspect same goes for other locations too, which I can’t accept.

I was used to WoW and WoW clones where every zone is completely different from the last one, like – Elwynn Forest -> Westfall -> Redridge Mountains, etc…

TSL just bores me to death and the story, as I said, would fit better in a SP RPG game.

Kingsmouth, Savage Coast and Blue Mountain are all on the same very tiny island. Why wouldn’t they look the same?

I get it, but if they did NA, they could’ve had the player go in 3 different parts of the country, like 1 zone for east coast, one for west coast, one for midwest or New Mexico… something like that.

If all 3 zones are on the same island, it would’ve made more sense if the whole island was 1 zone, not 3.

It essentially is one zone. Those of us who play the game designate them as such.

Keep in mind, TSW was the first game to render the game world at the same resolution and fidelity as its cutscenes over 7 years ago. Most other games of the era would have amazing cutscenes but scale down the game world.

It brought even the best PC systems to their knees at the highest graphics settings.

The smaller sub-zones allowed the game to be as graphically intense as it was for its time.

That being said… Kingsmouth is hands down the best zone in the game. It wins the community choice awards every single time. So, if it didn’t capture your attention, then yes, it probably wasn’t the game for you.

I liked the first Kingsmouth zone, where you start in the forest and have to go to the town. But I was expecting the second zone to be something different and when I finished the first zone, I was excited to see what’s next and when I saw more of the same, my excitement immediately evaporated.

If you only played the original – TSW for a few days, well you missed a great story and really fun adventure. SWL is a lite version of the original, still fun for new players as the difficulties were smoothed/removed. As for the zone changes – really? There are subtle differences, but it would make MORE sense if you’re on an island for them to be similar, or in Egypt it would be similar….

This is the same problem I had when playing ArcheAge as Nuians. Their 3 first starting areas are the same with small differences – pine forest, mountains with pine forest, oak forest… and they all look the same. After you pass some 3-4 more zones, you see they are also some oak/pine forest, fields, etc.

I’ve been spoiled by WoW and unless zones are different, I get very bored. xD

Do GM’s get all the goodies of the 12 month bundle?

Sure, for just 99,99€ like everybody else.

Not really a surprise. We all know by now that Funcom patches come in pairs.

Also, to be clear, the Occult Defense Scenario was never in TSW. It reuses the map from the Cat God fight, but it’s an entirely new game mode.

The MIB outfits are kinda cool. Not sure I’ll have the cash for the 1 year bundle handy for my second account anytime soon though.
