Old School RuneScape implements a rollback due to a surfeit of Twisted Bows

Skeleton bows.

Players of the oldest school variety of RuneScape will be losing a stretch of time today. The game’s most recent update added a spawn point for Twisted Bows just randomly on the ground near a farming guild, and while you might wonder if someone planted a Twisted Bow tree, the bow was not meant to be there. Thus, the game is going to have the bug fixed and the game rolled back approximately two hours.

It’s not clear how the bug occurred, but players will be losing any progress made before the rollback regardless of whether or not they exploited this particular glitch. Bad news to players who played legitimately and didn’t even know about this particular bug; also bad news to players who thought they had found free bows just lying on the ground. Bad news all around, really.

By the way, if you did exploit it, you’re busted:

“Players who abused the bug to buy bonds and redeem them for membership will have appropriate action taken against their account in the near future. The handful of players that were banned for abusing the bug will instead have their offences reduced to temporary bans. They have received an inbox message regarding their ban.”
