Star Wars The Old Republic’s April Heralds of Victory update promises guild heraldry and character preview perks

You know what I love about Star Wars The Old Republic? Well, a lot of things actually, but today I’m loving the fact that even the most insignificant patches get grandiose names. BioWare today announced 5.10.2, Heralds of Victory, which is set to expand on the Jedi Under Siege guild content revamp with even more guild content, specifically heraldry. You might even recognize some of these bits as having been promised with but held back from the last update.

“This new feature is called Guild Heraldry and it will be another tool for guilds to rally behind! Each guild can create their own emblem to represent them throughout the game. Between the combination of icons, background details, and variety of colors, guilds will be able to create something truly unique. A guild’s emblem will be displayed in the general guild window, on the conquest planetary leaderboards, and many other places!”

The studio’s got more in store for the update, so maybe we were hasty in calling this rollout insignificant after all: Expect some tweaks to the character preview window too. You’ll be able to preview things like emotes and moods, your gear combo, animations, and improved visual effets too. BioWare promises more in-depth details between now and the update some time in April.

let’s be clear this game is in Maintenance mode pending the demise of Bioware. EA has been looking for reasons for years to Disband Bioware and throw it in the hole with all the other good studios they have bought and wrecked. most everyone at BioWare is to busy working on anthem to do anything with SWTOR because Anthem Was there last Shot if it fails Bioware fails with it

Ironic. Guild tools are something long requested. And they have materialized. Too bad it looks like it is filler while they string players along.

I’m sorry to be harsh. But, with no announcements of anything resembling substance, I can only conclude that the game is already in sustaining mode.

I’m not enjoying being harsh myself but they haven’t given us a good reason to not be so. It’s a crying shame as it was my MMO home for some time. I’m still getting arts of some of my characters to this day.

5.10.2 for a reason.

So…maintenance mode already? (Really their ‘major’ updates are costume/character preview related now?) Hahahahaha.

I mean they never said it was major update at all, in fact they said the opposite a while back.

I remember a guild in STO that tried to get me to wear the guild uniform everywhere. They were a “mega guild and had everything” Quit the same day. I am sure it works for some people, just not me.

Sad how they release these “updates” with a tiny insignificant content just to avoid to admit they are on maintenance mode.

That is a grandiose name indeed, especially when it’s all fluff. I went and took a look at the link to the main site. While none of this is bad, it’s not exactly worthy of such a title. I’d say something more along the lines of: “We’re not shut down…yet!” or “Please don’t cancel, here’s a bone!” would be more appropriate titles for this patch.
