Pagan Online appears to be what happens when you cross Diablo with a MOBA

So, what will it be like to get into the real loot-grindy aspects of Pagan Online when the game is available for everyone? It’s hard to be sure just yet, as the most recent round of press previews by necessity did not cover the multiplayer. There was, however, ample opportunity to take the game’s mechanics for a test drive, and it turns out the game sort of plays like the offspring of Warframe, Diablo, and your average MOBA. In short: brisk, quick ventures with fixed characters and a colorful design.

If you’ve forgotten about the game due to general development silence, the title is an upcoming online action RPG in the aforementioned Diablo vein developed by Mad Head Games and Wargaming. The title is planned to launch sometime this year, although exact dates have yet to be announced.

been playing Diablo every night since that GOG site published it. Great game, great memories. This actually does look pretty good, and awfully similar, probably more like Diablo III though I guess.

I just can’t get over the bigoted name.

what is “bigoted” about it? honest question.

A very brief explanation would be that the term pagan, until the 20th century, was used as a derogatory or pejorative term for anyone or any religion that wasn’t Christian, usually one that was polythesitic. Unlike today, you would not refer to yourself or your religion as pagan.

For instance, if you want to follow Norse traditions, you would likely refer to yourself as Asataru before Pagan.

Loosely, it’s rooted in meaning something similar to country bumpkin or yokel – someone that needs fixing.

The denotation is largely lost today. Some groups or organizations that are rooted in older spirituality or religion willfully refer to themselves as pagan or even hethen, in defiance and as a pushback against Christian persecution at best, or ignorance at worst.

TL;DR it’s a loaded word with strong ties to Christian persecution recognizable by a small group that would be very, very offended by it.

I wanted to give it a fair shot, but when I saw the WASD controls as the only way to move your character, I could not last in that game another second.

I have a feeling it will have the same fate as Sacred 3.
