RIFT datamining adds more evidence for a coming battle pass

Why Is Trion Like This, Just Kidding, We Actually Know

Gamigo may have called it quits for RIFT’s progression server, but that doesn’t mean that the publisher has development for the regular shards. In fact, one new feature that was revealed last fall looks to be on the way into the game fairly soon.

It’s called the Battle Pass, and while we don’t know exact specifics, fan site The Ghar Station used datamined evidence to speculate that it is some kind of limited-time daily quest generator that is tied to specific rewards. The Battle Pass even has its own special XP and could fill the content drought that players are currently experiencing.

Fan datamining also revealed a new feather masked budgie mount and a few ornate masks for the upcoming Carnival of the Ascended event. Earlier datamining back in February also uncovered a five-player dungeon that’s in the works called The Enclave of Ahnket.

Sounds good to me, glad to hear there is something happening in development. I’m still having fun in Rift and the game still has a pretty good amount of people playing.

Question one: Is it free content.

Yes: Cool, why not.

No: :Proceeds to stare at the mount lootboxes:

I’m surprised this shell of a game still actually still has development spark.

Better off stringing it up by the neck and finally let it wring out and bleed on the floor.

Work on something non defunct.

Um, the battle pass monetization system started with CS:GO and DOTA 2 long before Fortnite was a thing.

Yeah the Battle Pass is a watered down Compendium for the most part.

Games borrowing and iterating on features and mechanics from each other has been going on for decades in the gaming industry… are you new?
