Sea of Thieves turns one, patches in birthday gifts, merc voyages, and Arches tease

Sea of Thieves is turning one year old today and getting an anniversary patch. Today’s patch is not the anniversary patch, however. That’s coming “a little further down the line.” No, today’s patch is going to tide you over with content, including a set of new mercenary voyages, birthday goodies in your inventory and in the cash shop, the Molten Sands Fortress, new player tutorial tweaks, and Xbox One mouse and keyboard support.

Combat’s also received some balancing tweaks today. “The forced firing delay has been removed when wielding a gun after sprinting or undocking, allowing players to fire sooner. The forced firing delay when switching weapons still remains to prevent fast switching and firing between guns,” Rare says. “Players are now able to switch weapons/items at any point during a light sword attack. Players are still prevented from switching during a heavy sword attack.”

There’s a bit of a tease for the future too. Happy birthday, Sea of Thieves.

“Work appears to have begun around the Arches rock formation. What could they be building?”
