Niantic’s summer plans include three Pokemon Go Fests plus ‘a number of Safari Zone events’

Summer is just around the corner, and you know what that means: sunny skies, sandy beaches, and of course, Pokemon Go safaris. Hot on the heels of 2018’s wildly eventful year, Niantic has a whole smorgasbord of activities planned to get Pokemon Go players out of the house and into the metaphorical — and maybe literal — tall grass to hunt for everyone’s favorite combat critters. The year’s events got off to a start with the first-ever South American safari zone event in Brazil earlier this year, with another safari zone in Singapore coming up in just a few weeks, but the festivities are still just getting started.

For starters, this year’s Pokemon Go Fest will be making three stops around the world: It kicks off in Chicago, Illinois, from June 13th to 16th, then hops across the Atlantic to Dortmund, Germany, from July 4th to 7th before concluding with Pokemon Go Fest Asia, the exact dates and location of which are still to be announced. Ticket sale details will be announced “in the upcoming weeks,” so if you’re looking to get in on the fun, be sure to keep an eye out.

In addition, Niantic promises that “[a] number of Safari Zone events are coming up in the second half of 2019.” But if you for some silly reason, like not having the money or time to fly halfway across the country (or around the world), you can’t make it to any of the Pokemon Go Fests, don’t fret; Niantic assures players that “[there] will be plenty of ways to participate in Pokemon Go Fest no matter where you are around the world,” and details on that should be coming Soonâ„¢.
