Skyforge updates its interface and smooths the process of playing catch-up in New Horizons

Familiar horizons.

The next major update for Skyforge, New Horizons, arrives on April 9th. It wants new and returning players alike to be up to the most recent content. So how do you make that happen? Well, you start with the systems outlined in the most recent update preview that make it much easier for players to catch up with their divine specializations. The new system will be trimmed down to four specializations, with prior bonuses from the existing seven being rolled into the smaller system to help players catch up to the most current content.

Scaling is also getting an update, ensuring that players who lag behind get a more substantial boost to actually take part in content. There’s also a new set of major interface windows and a new Stronghold feature within the Bastion, both of which should help consolidate and streamline the player experience. So if you’ve never played or just haven’t played for ages, you’ll hopefully have an easier time getting back to it.

I was just commenting with someone on this on YouTube.

Honestly I couldn’t care less about the new content because I don’t see what it has to do with anything. Look I know I’m late to the game and that means that I missed some stuff… But I do know that this games been out for a long time and seems to have gone nowhere. For a game about Gods fending off alien invasions you do a whole lot of nothing till they actually land on your planet. No fighting in The sky to stop ships from making landfall? You have a giant metal ring around the world… How come there are no mission on that thing? They also seem to attack all the same locations… Over and over. Is there a reason for that? Lanber forest has got to be more important of location if these dirtbags keep setting up camp there? Some of us want more story. I am still wondering where Thaies went after the grave digger situation. Can we have more boss fights with evil Aelion immortals that use the different classes? We pretty much have faught Cryomancer, Paladin, Light binder, Necro, Archer, and Slayer. Will we see more stuff coming out about the bugs that can mind control immortals? What is actually going on in the world of skyforge?

I am going to repost and expand on this because I really want to know.

I tried returning to this game a couple months ago but it turned out to be a dud. Unlocking classes required resources that appeared to require participation in PvP activities. That would have been fine but unfortunately there weren’t enough players to get a single match started.

you talking about sparks.
people playing pvp mostly in HappyHours, no i only did pvp to get 3 classes then got the rest just by playing.

I have no idea how this game functions now. They used to have a path of exile type map layout to upgrade yourself. They ditched that for a system that makes even less sense. Something about mission progression system now but they mixed up all the missions i had already done into a whole bunch more so i have no idea where i should be even playing now. Not only that they have so many in game currencies for things in the game i have no idea what any of them do. Its like they want to make the game as confusing as hell to play for some reason.

I have been back and forth to this game trying to figure out how to get things moving again, because as it stands once you complete the tutorial the only ones really playing the game are people who can get carried, people who can carry you, and people who spent money who either don’t want to feel they wasted money or feel they may still get somewhere using their wallet.

Right now skyforge is a nightmare to play in so many ways. New player are having a horrible time doing anything because they hit a huge level increase wall after the ungodly long tutorial. Even when using devine form. Much like you said there are far too many currencies. For every holiday event there is a currency. There are credits used to purchase things like combat items (of which you never see people use other then healing items… Cause they are only avaible once per fight with 2min cool down that starts AFTER combat is over) then there are victory medals used to get better versions of combat items as well as mounts, passive abilities from trophy temple, and pet abilities. Then you have Argents which are the cash shop currencies. Then you have sparks of transformation which are used to buy new classes. Then you have “Rare Cyrstite” which is ONLY used to purchase outfits (that nobody cares about cause most if not all of them aren’t that cool) Then you have “Intelligence Data” which I’d used to speed up your Order search parties in an attempt to try and obtain whatever “free” swag is avaible for a 2 week period. (Which you lose at the end of every event) Legendary Shards which allow you to buy weapons that are better then normal drops, but still are pretty basic, Ether used to purchase Ether Chest, Battle Royal currency used to purchase outfit and crap for BR mode… It’s seriously rediculous.

I got new class and it’s probably the greatest / most cool bard class I’ve seen in games – Soundweaver. Then I’ve spent few days trying to get a weapon for the class (you can fight w/o weapon to get it drop but DPS is like 3 times lower). No luck.

This game is an original Anthem – forever alpha stage.

you just needed to do mission called hespi to get the weapon.

each gear have mission that give you the type of gear you need.

5man missions aren’t doable without a weapon, not even in god form. Game is simply unplayable for like a year already.

Starting out you are right they aren’t doable, but even when you get to the point you can do a real team and complete them (with or without weak devine form) most people won’t play their classes properly or they refuse to do dungeons if they won’t get carried.

It’s not just the game that is messed up its the mindset of the community as well.

so just know someone who can help you?
i mean im doing 5p solo and help new players every day

Judging by your previous comment you have been playing a for a long time if you have been able to simply farm for the rest of your classes solo.

People who have just started the game within the past year or two and don’t want to spend money, have other things to do, want to play other games, or just generally don’t want to get carried trough everything won’t be able to get stuff as easily as you suggest. And getting help is often times not that easy. Or if you get it you get the same speed run through the mission bull most other players do. Skyforge doesn’t cater to the team based game play mind set until far later into the game… or at least the community doesn’t. More often then not even if you get on a team you are with people who rush through missions making you miss drops or making you feel like you can’t keep up unless you have this one thing. The queue system for the game is horribly underused and you have to yell in chat for teams with no guarantees you will get one. I mean they had to implement a system into the game the makes people want to do teams and now you still run into the “have Devine form or combat mount or get left” issue.

Stuff needs to be explained better. Buffs and debuff… Stuff like that. They also need to adjust devine form usage. Make it a need only thing until you get to raids. Why is it you can use devine form in like every area of the game besides maybe pvp matches (not sure … I don’t pvp so I don’t know. Is why I said may be) and actual end game dungeons and battles where it makes since that you would actually need it? You can go Devine in open world areas? Where the idea should be playing with the community? Make players have to learn their classes. Make the community work together. If you are playing a game about being devine you shouldn’t have to feel like you are just babysitting lower levels whenever you get on. I literally only play to mess around and help new players get a handle on the game. The rest is repeat grind I don’t feel like repeating because then I’m just getting carried mission after mission or in playing solo which get boring. I don’t want an mmo game solo and I don’t want to watch someone else play… I want to play WITH other players. That is what Mmo means right?

Reader

Anthem just came out… don’t compare a new game to an mmo that’s been out for years and still hasn’t told us where Thaies ran off to after the very first story arch they ever made.

You could be right but I’ve seen more than one non-F2P bad launch and only one of them has turned into decent product in the end (Final Fantasy) and considering my experience with EA/BioWare Anthem is guaranteed to stay in barely playable / boring state forever.
As for Skyforge – I’m not even sure if making it fun was ever a plan. It seems like the studio works without any leadership and just create great graphics and animations for the sake of the process.
