World of Warcraft welcomes the Darkmoon Faire and its new rollercoaster

Whee or something.

The faction war is supposedly more urgent than it’s ever been in World of Warcraft. We say “supposedly” because, well, it’s hard to believe that things are really that urgent when both factions are taking the time away from slaughtering one another in order to ride a roller coaster together. That’s the big new centerpiece for the Darkmoon Faire’s return this month, yes. It’s a big roller coaster, along with new severed fish heads and all of the usual buffs and enjoyment that comes with the event.

There’s a fine guide to the new events and carnival games you can partake in on Wowhead, complete with a rundown of rewards and some suggestions about how to use reputation buffs to help unlock the new allied races. (If you needed the suggestions.) Even if you already have your allies unlocked, of course, you can still enjoy the simple pleasure of riding a roller coaster. Who doesn’t like a roller coaster? Possibly of love.

Debuff: The Churning Point – loses lunch at midway.

Achievement: Curds & Wee – Didn’t get any on yourself for the rest of the ride.

I rather enjoyed the rollercoaster (I did it in first-person view) – it’s pretty good considering the age of WoW’s engine. Okay, so it’s a bit short but there’s no queue to go back on – bonus!

You know…you’re probably right.

…as my pigtails keep reminding me that if I can ride Dragon Pulses back in Blade & Soul without covering my monitor what I ate a hour before, then I’ll likely just be fine. Roller coasters will be nothing.

Thanks for explaining this! :)

At this point in WoW history I’m really only waiting for “classic” WoW to release. Here’s hoping they won’t be so stupid to lock it behind a full sub, eh?

The roller coaster gives the same boost to faction gain that the merry-go-round does, if you’re still doing world quests to get everybody to exalted.

Also, three new battle pets available for sale in DMF, from the balloon vendor!

I love Darkmoon Faire, this place always remind me of my first time trying WoW and being utterly lost and confused, so i never miss going to it every month.

And after killing the entire Horde army, I returned to base camp. Once there, I rode the Devil’s Drop roller coaster, ate cotton candy, and then got the purple heart for my courageous defence of the log ride.

Should have done the rollercoaster first, then killed the entire Horde army… you would have got more XP that way :)
