Saturday Night Live takes a jab at The Division 2’s love of talking at you

But seriously, what's Damien's deal this week?

Sometimes you just can’t get an NPC to shut up in a video game. Sometimes you can’t get multiple NPCs to shut up. And while you can debate whether or not the latest Saturday Night Live sketch was directed specifically at The Division 2’s batch of NPCs, the developers on the game certainly took it as a personal jab… but a good-natured one, as they linked the sketch and noted that Damien and Ethan will be much less chatty in the next patch.

The actual sketch itself, of course, relates to an awful lot of games that decide your first priority is to play couples therapist before you do any of the stuff you actually bought the game for. You can check it out just below; while you might not think it’s just a sin of The Division 2, you’ll probably still be happy that Damien and Ethan will be sorting out their own issues from now on. (No word on the mission room, though.)

Why the fuck are SNL’s vids not available to view in Canada? What’s their issue…?

for some reason NBC has always made watching SNL a difficult process. To watch old ones you basically have to go rouge.

But dont use too much rouge or you’ll look like a cheap hooker.

Omg, this is so true for Destiny2. You have to keep a safe distance to NPCs there, because otherwise they won’t stop blabbering nonsense directed to you.

This Agent loved it.

Now… give me more Special Ammo for my Grenade Launcher!

That ammo is coming right up! But seriously, what’s the deal with Damien? Does he hate me or something?

Ok, I know you’re a busy man. Get right out there and kill some zombies!

This skit is obviously making fun of The Division or Division 2.

The constant bickering back and forth between Agent Lau and Doctor Candell in my ear, during firefights in Division 1, was stupid beyond belief. I get that they were going for character development, but doing it while I’m fighting for my life made me want to kill them both.

It certainly wasn’t the only video game to overdo that stupidity. My friends and I still joke about the constant “Mitchel! Get me those NUKES!!!” from GRAW.

I guess SNL is just niche made for youtube videos now. I got it and I hated that skit. I smiled more at developer April Fool’s Day jokes.

compare this skit to even forgotten middle of the road SNL videos from a few decades ago. There is literally nothing funny comparatively. Needs to be cancelled honestly.

Phil Hartman was one of the funniest people ever born.

I can agree.

Yeah, given the other recent sin against nerds and geeks by SNL, I’m not really in a mood to be supportive of them.
It was certainly based on TD2, but it really doesn’t do that. Plus, we really should be standing up for games that actually give us story content. Not treating it like it’s inconvenient.

When hasn’t SNL done that?
