Skyforge’s next big thing has arrived! Dubbed New Horizons, the content update sends players to their first new planet ever, Terra, with all-new enemies – Draconids – to fight and new missions to undertake. It’s all live today on PC, with rollouts expected on PS4 tomorrow and Xbox One Thursday.

“Recently we managed to send a scouting probe through a mysterious portal. Today we received the results. The probe discovered a new planet, and it looks like we are facing a serious threat! Volunteers are about to travel there to learn more about it and find a way to protect Aelion. It will not be an easy trip – judging by this new data, our pioneers will have their hands full. The signal from the probe is unstable, which makes it difficult to obtain accurate data, but some things are clear now. Pictures of the planet surface show ruins of cities and lifeless wastelands. Preliminary measurements indicate that air pollution levels in certain parts of the planet exceed safe limits many times over: perhaps a war took place there. But who were the warring parties? That we will have to find out.”

My.com also says it’s updated bastions and strongholds, tweaked the rewards interface, altered division specializations (there are just four now), and overhauled the scaling system – it will now “not just increase the Might of a player who’s lagging behind [but] provide bonuses from the laboratory and divine specializations specified for the selected rank of the adventure.” Clearly, the intent here is to help new and returning players catch up to the meta. Check out the New Horizons trailer too!

i really, really hope the new scaling system makes things a LOT easier; the last two times they adjusted it, things went from bad to worse, grrr

pmuch gave up on playing even though i liked having it as a side game; will give it a try in a few weeks, coz the game has most of the things i generally like in games

I think that all games are buggy on first day of large expansions, they will be fixing everything

On PC it’s buggy even by Skyforge’s standards.

I wonder – how many years it’ll stay in alpha stage? The game already has amount of content comparable to BDO and could be great to see it actually playable.

Is this hitting all platforms at once? I recently started this up on PS4 as my computer has bit the dust and I haven’t had the headspace to do the easy job of diagnosing the problem (pretty sure it’s just my GPU).

Been playing this a bit and I’m not sure how I feel about it. At times I like it, but at the same time I frequently feel like I’m just “going through the motions” with it. Granted I’m replaying content right now so I’m trying to keep that in mind as I play, but some of these updates look pretty good.

I’m willing to bet it’s still a game lacking…well, anything worth a damn.
