The Daily Grind: What MMO has the absolute worst official site?

Not scary any more.

Every so often I’m reminded of how hopelessly bad the Final Fantasy XI site actually is. I don’t entirely blame the designers; the site was designed to be viewed and used even by people using the unbelievably janky browser options available on the consoles available at the time, and so it made sense from a design perspective in 2003 or so. It is now 2019, though, and I can only assume that if they change the website Hiromichi Tanaka will be unsealed and return as producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV or something. That’d explain the reluctance to actually update the dang thing.

Of course, I may be the last person on the face of the planet who actually cares about this. Heck, it still bugs me that Allods Online has a website that is both intensely modern and terrible with its screenshots. (I need these screenshots to make your game look decent, guys!) So what about you, readers? In your time moving between official websites of MMOs, which one is the absolute worst of the batch?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

From dictionary.cambridge.org: We use which in questions as a determiner and interrogative pronoun to ask for specific information.

For example:

Which MMO has the absolute worst official site?”

A lot of the Funcom sites just hide information.

FFXIV. Simply the absolute worst.

I think the reverse question would be more relevant, what MMO has a website that’s worth visiting?

If I’m interested in an mmo, I will search for “MMO_Name Forum” in google. I can see how active the game is, guilds recruiting, and most of all class guides which point out what specs are PvP/PvE/wanted in groups/good for soloing.

I was surprised the other day when I played an MMO where the character builder was on the main website, an actual useful feature! Warhammer return of reckoning I believe.

They all are pretty bad today. It’s because they are to busy trying to sell you something from the cash shop.

Pretty much all of them.

It’s a sad state of affairs that you pretty much have to go to 3rd party sites to get any useful information about actual game play on the vast majority of MMO games.

What’s wrong with it? seems normal for me, i see this design in many online games websites.

Exactly my problem. It’s the staple for cashgrabby korean grinders, like Priston Tale, Flyff, and others.

It’s not bad, it’s mediocre and it gives you all you need to know about the games.

Not one website but a trend, i see an mmo here that i want to check, visit the website, they show a form to make a new account! no … this is silly, show me the website, sometimes it is hard to find the main website i just close the tab and never come back.

As much as I love FFXIV, that has to be right up there. Such horrible sites to navigate if you’re unfamiliar with the game.
