Torchlight Frontiers’ new Railmaster is the most creative class MMOs have seen in years

CHOO CHOO all aboard the Torchlight Frontiers train. Yep, PWE this afternoon revealed a new class, the Railmaster. Now, I have no idea why you’d want to play anything but a robot when a robot is available, but this is definitely going to give the robot a run for his money, especially since it’s based on an NPC in Torchlight 2, Captain Jacobi.

“The Railmaster is all about swinging a big hammer and laying tracks for their train companion. You can mix it up in melee, bring the full power of your train to bear, or anything in between. With the various options for your train, there’s a really strong feeling of utility when it comes to the playstyle of the Railmaster. You’ll steam through enemies once you’ve found the build that speaks to you!”

The dev blog goes into great detail on how the Railmaster’s style developed, but you’ll probably want to take a look at the skills – this is pretty creative for an MMO. You’ll be laying tracks for your “train” to follow you, adding specialty cars for the tracks, and summoning Ghost Trains. Awesome.

“This new class will be available with Update 5, which is expected to be released April 23,” PWE says.
