Horus and Set bring their divine duel to SMITE in the latest update

An ancient feud of divine proportions spills over to the battlegrounds of SMITE today as its latest update introduces two new Egyptian deities, Horus and Set. To say that these two have a bit of history between them is an understatement: After murdering his brother (and Horus’s father) Osiris, the god of storms and chaos Set has set his sights on becoming the grand ruler of Egypt, but there’s one thing standing in his way — Horus, the god of the sky and rightful heir to the kingdom.

Now, they’ll have the opportunity to settle their score as they join the SMITE roster. In fact, the pair’s feud is built right into their game mechanics: Horus’s passive ability grants him a stack of Resolute whenever he is attacked, increasing his protections and CCR for three seconds, but each attack from Set will grant him two stacks instead. On the flip side of that coin, each time Set attacks an enemy, he gains a stack of Relentless, which increases his attack speed, but landing a blow on Horus provides two stacks instead.

Aside from that, both gods come outfitted with an array of abilities befitting their deific natures. Horus harnesses his powers as god of the sky to call upon the winds and soar through the air, while Set channels his dominion over deserts to conjure sandstorms and even mold the sands into copies of himself. Both Horus and Set are playable in-game right now, but if you want to check out the pair in action and even get a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing these iconic Egyptian deities to life, then have a gander at the videos below.
