When the Kritika Online team decided to totally screw over their Founders at launch, I really couldn’t see people wanting to support them and see the game lasting.

I mean, if it was a hit with enough people it still could have made it, but when you upset and screw over your base Founder group of money spending people, it really isn’t great for the prospects of the game.

They sold these big packs full of IAP currency that the founders all bought. During testing, they gave out the currency and had every item they would release in the future to see which pets and items were the most popular and wanted. They took those pets and made sure not to have them in the game at release, which isn’t the big deal, lots of games do that.

We just figured they’d put them in the shop later as most games do. They release the less popular stuff hoping people will spend their money on those because they are the only ones available, then release the actual wanted and better stuff later. It’s cheesy but we can live with it and it’s how a lot of games int he game world do it.

They saw a lot of the Founders decided to save their IAP currency to get them when they finally did release them, so they went and released the future stuff we had been waiting for ONLY in new cash purchase packs. Which they did with a lot of their best stuff in the game. We couldn’t buy them with the IAP they sold us in our Founder Packs. All that IAP currency they got us to buy was almost useless, they just didn’t put the best stuff in the store but instead sold them on their web page as overpriced new cash buys in packs of stuff.

The game was also too grindy without enough updates, and probably it was doomed no matter what because of those things, but the fact is they set this horrible tone screwing over their money spending base of players and a lot of us either left rather than put up with that, or just said they weren’t getting screwed over again and stopped spending money.
