Stardew Valley’s patch 1.4 will include separate multiplayer farms and finances

Dew the do... wait.

Here’s the problem: You want to play Stardew Valley with your friends, but you are an efficient mayo-producing expert at making profit while your friends are useless goblins who somehow manage to buy a small army of gerbils to start a gerbil-milking empire. But the 1.4 update is bringing with it a solution in the form of having separate finances and farms. This comes along with the new Four Corners map that’s perfect for having separated finances between players on the multiplayer operation.

Players in existing farms will still have shared money, but a quick trip to the mayor will allow you to change to separate finances or re-join them; new multiplayer farms can set the option at creation. Everything else remains shared, but single-player games will also have access to the new farm maps. It should provide an interesting new gameplay experience for the title, so check it out when the next patch goes live, first on PC with other versions to follow.

I actually had to Google this to see if we could really buy Gerbils and start a Gerbil Milking Empire. Much to my dismay, we can’t :(

That almost sounds like something Project Gorgon would do.

I have Project Gorgon installed, though I’m playing other stuff right now. I left to wait for more development to happen before I did a whole lot in it. I enjoyed it and all though went to play some story heavy stuff for a while.

Yeah I really haven’t done much beyond the tutorial myself. Haven’t really felt a need to dive too deeply into it as they keep changing/adding stuff.

Neat feature for those who are into that, but likely not something I’d bother with since part of the fun of multiplayer IMO is working together on the same farm.

Totally sets the stage though for some Stardew speedrunning competitions I guess. Or competitive scenarios in general.
