Wurm Online is about to preview its big May 30 update

Venerable MMORPG sandbox Wurm Online is gearing up for an update on May 30th, and while we don’t have complete patch notes yet, we do have a pretty good inkling about what’s coming, including a ton of bug fixes, client and graphics tweaks, and all-new keybinds. Apparently great attention has been paid to how trees look from far away thanks to the modern rendering tools. Given the fact that this is one of those epic sandboxes that more people would likely play if it had better graphics, we’d say that’s not an addition to scoff at.

The developers will apparently be hosting their first livestream ever previewing the May update and releasing the roadmap for the rest of 2019, so you can tune in for that this evening at 7 p.m. EDT on Twitch.

I am still busy on unlimited, so I imagine the updates will follow there as well. I didn’t expect this to become the obsession that it has ….

There is even a standalone version you can run your own server, on steam:

I don’t know, i think being first person and extremely convoluted and complicated, are the biggest issues to Wurm. It’s a great game, but it’s a game where you just feel so lost.

Also everything took too much time, even making a simple paver surface

I do have a lot of respect for those behind it though because its a game with so much depth from a small team

Oh, yeah, it’s a great game. It’s just extremely timeconsuming and i don’t know what to do and where to go.

Unlimited allows mods which does cut down on lvling depending on which server you choose. Generally people either choose to deed themselves or join a village until they feel they know enough to go off on their own. I joined a server which reset after a couple of weeks. I went off to the new server not really knowing much. Chose to deed myself and picked the farthest spot from any portals on a hill. I have built a Castle, made a farm, made an underground watery cave for my boat, am breeding horses to gain better traits, have cows and sheep, hunt for food and skill up fighting, treasure hunts etc. I have to agree, everything is time consuming. There are people who have spent their entire time terraforming, others have merchants to sell items, it really comes down to what you enjoy. I have more time now than previously, so I can see progress but I never run out of things to do.

Isn’t Unlimited a b2p? Also, i thought unlimited was singleplayer.

Unlimited is b2p, I picked it up for about 10$ on the last steam sale. The game has a bunch of player hosted servers, each with its own mods, skill gain and maps are different. You can also host your own server or play offline single player. Offline is ok to dick around in but the game will only move along when the server us up so your crops won’t grow etc. I played WURM online to try it out but found the servers to be overdeveloped and unfriendly to new players. If you look up Wurm unlimited servers you will find a whole list of servers available to play on, or you can look up the forums for servers looking for people. I jumped around a bunch of them until I found one that felt right. The experience is similar to a guild in an mmo, with the right group you will find a lot of people chatting, sharing information and planning events.

Keybind changes could get me into this. Will Unlimted get the updates as well?
