Final Fantasy XIV offers a pizza discount for Papa John’s pizza through June

A bunny must jump.

MMO players will forever be haunted by the specter of the /pizza command, especially when games go out of their ways to invite that comparison through things like the latest Final Fantasy XIV cross-promotion. Through the month of June, entering the promotional code “FFXIV30” will get you a cool 30% off of the menu price of your order from Papa John’s , so long as you’re ordering within the United States via the online system.

The code isn’t even going to ask you to prove how much you like the game or anything, so those of you who just want some pizza but aren’t actually playing the game can still use it. Just saying. Gosh, it sure is convenient how that lines up with something else that’s happening toward the end of the month in the game, isn’t it? (Assuming you live anywhere near a Papa John’s, anyhow. Some of us do not.)

I thought Papa Johns was struggling financially? Didn’t the CEO get fired or had to resign or something? This should help them, I guess.

Anyway, it’s not bad pizza. I just have several other options near me that are way better.

Not really that great of a deal tbh. Neat that they did this but 30% off is like… not even as good as their standard ‘Special’ that they do. At least in my area, you can get 33% off regular menu price from the website itself. :/ And usually it’s not hard to find better deals than that depending on the day.

Maybe if there was an in-game incentive for XIV I’d do it once but mreh. There’s better deals I can find with little effort.

At least its a step up from the grease vector that is dominoes?

Seems consistent worldwide! Dominos is also grease inc. Over here too

It’s not my favorite, but I don’t think there’s really such a thing as a bad pizza. And I like the garlic sauce!

tbh for me, the pizza itself is of okay quality. I just find the owner of the chain a personally revolting human being.

He’s the largest shareholder at 31% I believe, but is no longer on the board at all and the firm has pretty solidly distanced themselves from him.

He’s a jerk, but I’m not sure anyone could say he ‘owns’ the company any longer.

Yeah on one hand it’s a bit odd that the first comments in this thread are dumping on Papa Johns. On the other hand I guess I’m not surprised because some folks have very strong opinions.

Personally I think Papa Johns tastes better than the other two big pizza companies (Dominos/Pizza Hut) and idgaf about whatever politics are going on with the owner since that doesn’t impact my ability to appreciate good tasting food. At least the sausages there actually taste like sausage.

Frankly. you could have the world;s greatest 5 star restauraunt but if you treat your employees like trash I’d gladly never patronage your store out of sheer spite.

Again, glad I live in Canada ;)! Two Papa John’s within 500 meters, and both are absolute trash. Just, why? Why would such a ‘smart’ company, willingly associate themselves with the dregs of the dungheap that Papa John’s is?

One wonders. I prefer local pizzerias over big chains anyway but PJ’s is horrible by any standard.

I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of places in Canada you could live and not be within a thousand miles of a Papa John’s. Or even a Little Caesar’s. Or….anything.

And living in America wouldn’t force you to use the code. I live in Canada too, but that’s a bizarre justification for patriotism.

Papa Johns? ick. Nothing like mistreated workers and asshole CEOs to make pizza worse.

And it takes effort to make Papa John’s pizza worse than it already is!

Even with that discount I’ll never eat Papa John’s again. The only one near where I live now closed awhile ago and for good reason. I’ve had worse pizza but only once. Once.

Yeah….it kinda falls into that realm of ‘If you need pizza really bad, here’s a bad pizza.”

Also, I usually make my own pizza thank you very much.

Why does this remind me EQ2’s in-game pizza ordering?

30% off Schnatter’s crap is still 70% too much.

because it’s mentioned in the headline of the article and the 1st sentence?
