WoW Classic’s test server raises level cap and reopens Arathi Basin

After the fourth or fifth million battle over the same tiny swath of farmland, the question of “is this truly worth the bloodshed?” comes to mind. Apparently not, because WoW Classic testers are frothing at the mouth as the Arathi Basin battleground arrived in the closed beta this week. Have fun storming the mine and making life hell for farmers, you noble adventurers!

Blizzard announced that it would be raising the level cap from 30 to 40 on the CBT servers this Thursday, June 6th while also closing down Warsong Gulch and bringing up Arathi Basin for “limited testing.” So just be aware that your favorite WoW Classic streamer is probably going to be zipping around Stranglethorn Vale, Desolace, and Arathi Highlands with the rest of the crowd.

Also, there’s this: “To further assist testing efforts, we will reduce the cost to respec closed beta characters. The new cost will be charged in silver instead of gold, a 99% reduction in cost, and will only be applied to the beta test.”

No plan to play this, but I sincerely hope it provides the joy so many fans are desiring.

I’ll just keep tooling around, until they test AV. Love me some old school AV( that can’t be 7 minute rushed!)

I seem to remember some AV battles lasting over 12 hours initially. The first time around it was the most epic thing I had ever done (was like fighting an actual war) but it soon loses its charm when you’re just after honor points and every game takes over half a day.

So, was it the game play or you chasing a number, that actually ruined it?

That’s not something only one person does. AV becomes a honor farming bg after a while, and that’s a general issue.

Whether it’s general or specfic, doesn’t change the statement.

I had a pretty great time with the Classic stress test. Teamed up with random strangers for quests, pooled my copper and silver pieces together to afford my skills, and ran around aimlessly.

Looking forward to August 27th.

I wonder how the success so far of classic is being recieved at blizzard, especially after Blizzcon. Are they finally accepting how out of touch they are ( balking at the idea of classic for years ) or will pride/arrogance continue to lead them down a rocky road.

Will we see a Starcraft mmorpg? will the Ghost single player project return? how about Diablo 4? Naw…my moneys on new IP’s noone asked for in either survival, battle royale, or mobile gaming.

Given that they’re making Classic, I think it’s safe to say they accepted it years ago. Not sure what else you’d be expecting.

After ages declaring noone really wanted classic sure, they finally did it..and tbh you have to wonder how much of the decision came from wanting to fight the private servers and not because the fanbase wanted it.

In a lot of interesting ways, though, it’s not really Classic. It’s more what some at Blizzard liked about Classic, their ideal thereof. There are a lot of weird quirks and behaviours (wall-walking not least among them) that they’ve said will never make it to classic proper.

So, yes, it’s not really WoW Classic, just bits of WoW Classic that some at Blizzard liked. It’s a very picky-choosy view of it rather than going all-in.

Looking forward to it.

That’s just wrong. Anyone who has followed this knows it’s as close as possible. Hell, they even tweaked the firing of abilities to mimic the old systems so you have those odd occurrences of two people sheeping each other at the same time.

I wonder if the horde will win every AB like they used to.

There’s no elves on classic Horde so ya, expect them to have the best players. Again.

Except that Horde also has extremely high favour rate on TBC.
