During the Microsoft Xbox presentation ahead of E3 this afternoon, CD Projekt Red dropped some big news: Cyberpunk 2077 has landed Keanu Reeves, playing a starring character.

Oh yeah, and the game is launching April 16th of next year; it’s coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One; we’re still hoping for multiplayer; and there’s a new trailer.

OK, now back to Cyberpunk Keanu.

Obligatory.

The gaming industry has let me down so much that pre-ordering was taken off the table for me. I was going to by CP 2077 because it I’m a huge Shadowrun fan and the two IPs are close.

Then they had to go and get Keanu. Add this plus 3rd Bill & Ted movie…it’s good to have things to look forward too!

You had me at “Get up, samurai.”

There’s a part of the E3 expo that really just captures the moment when someone belts out back at Reeves “No, YOU’RE amazing!”

I think, in so many ways, he’s the quintessential edgerunner. Low-key, bad ass, and just looking for a way to do a bit of good in the world. Can’t say enough how excited I am as a former CP 2020 fan to see his involvement.

Wow! This was already totally on my radar anyway, but Keanu makes it even better. :)

Johnny Mneumonic made a Re-appearance you say??? lol

(a nice big cookie for everyone who is old enough to get the reference and bonus cookie for anyone who knows the link to the Cyberpunk franchise).

I was watching Johnny Mneumonic just the other night (actually, just listening to it in the background), and forgot that not only was Ice-T in it, but Henry Rollins as well. That’s gravitas.

That movie had a lot of big names Dina Meyer, Dolph Lundgren, Udo Kier, Takeshi Kitano etc..etc..

More or less. The Johnny Menumonic movie was loosely based on a short story by William Gibson named “Johnny Menumonic”. Who in turn was also the Author for the classic “Neuromancer” and his original short story “Burning Chrome”, which Mike Pondsmith Cyberpunks creator has stated along with Ridley Scotts Blade Runner movie as being his original inspirations for the PnP game.

Menumonic… obviously should read Mneumonic. I really hate not being able to go back and edit my posts after such a short time lol

The only thing holding me back right now is the lack of 3rd person camera. This won’t prevent me from purchasing the game in the end, mind, but if they didn’t insist on locking the action to a point of view I dislike this would be one of the very few games I might be willing to pre-order.

Fortnite: “We got a promo with John Wick to have a skin in his likeness!”

Cyberpunk: “That’s cute.”

You’re trying to hard CD Projekt. I didn’t need reasons to not buy your game but you keep giving them to me.

Still. Coulda been Steven Seagal so at least you dodged that bullet.

I have to admit, having him as part of that presentation was pretty damn cool.

In fact, the whole Xbox presser was great. And believe it or not, Cyberpunk was not the highlight for me. Project Scarlet, their next-gen console and its release with Halo Infinite took the cake. I swear… when the Halo music came on I almost teared up.
