Destiny 2 will be down for 12 hours in preparation for the arrival of cross-save

If you had plans to play Destiny 2 at any point during the day today, then I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news: The game is going to be down for maintenance for an entire 12 hours today. Sorry. But on the bright side, this extended maintenance is the precursor to the new cross-save feature that’s arriving to the game. So, necessary evil, really.

Both Destiny 2 and the original Destiny are likely down now, with maintenance having begun at 10:00 a.m. EDT, and they will be down until approximately 10:00 p.m. EDT. The Bungie website and Companion App features will also be unavailable to third-party on web, mobile, and third-party apps while maintenance continues. The cross-save feature itself will not be made available once maintenance completes, but it will be arriving at some point this fall according to the Bungie Help Twitter account.
