Destiny 2’s Moments of Triumph 2019 event kicks off today

Seven is Bungie’s lucky number, as any long-time fan can attest, and because of the connection with the divine digit, fans celebrate Bungie Day every year on July 7th, which, in case you haven’t looked at a calendar lately, has just passed us by. Rather than celebrating themselves — because that would be egotistical — the folks at Bungie instead took the opportunity to celebrate their fans by announcing the imminent unlocking of Destiny 2’s Moments of Triumph for Year Two, which is happening on July 9th – today.

As players traverse the solar system, they’ll be able to complete these momentous achievements to earn spiffy rewards both in the game and in meatspace. It’s a pretty straightforward system: Complete one Moment of Triumph, and you’ll receive this year’s emblem. Complete five for the Moments of Triumph 2019 Sparrow, and completing 10 will earn you a shiny, exclusive new ship. If you manage to unlock 15 Moments of Triumph, you’ll be able to purchase the IRL Moments of Triumph 2019 t-shirt from the Bungie store, and if you’re truly dedicated and manage to earn every last triumph on offer, you’ll be rewarded with this year’s Moments of Triumph seal and title for your efforts.

It’s worth noting that although you can earn the emblem, sparrow, and ship with just the base game, earning the t-shirt will require you to own the Forsaken expansion, and earning all the Triumphs — and thus the seal and title — will require the Destiny 2 Annual Pass. For all the details on this year’s Moments of Triumph and some new shots of the moon (which, in case you’ve forgotten, is haunted), be sure to check out the full announcement over on Bungie’s official site.
