Dungeons and Dragons Online starts testing multiple patches ahead of Update 43

There’s a lot coming down the pike for Dungeons and Dragons Online — so much so, in fact, that Standing Stone Games has resorted to testing elements of multiple patches on the Lamannia preview server right now.

The bulk of the testing is reserved for the upcoming Update 43, which is slated to revamp several epic destinies, make significant adjustments to the way XP is earned, “shake up the meta” of Reaper difficulty dungeons, and, oh yeah, add some new adventures in as well. Other elements in the testing pool include a reworking of the Pale Master necromancer and the last raid of the Masterminds of Sharn expansion, Project Nemesis.

SSG did provide a bit of backstory for the missions coming with Update 43: “In this pack, the player gets pulled into an investigation about Warforged disappearing in Sharn. They start off by searching for Dorris, an old friend and lieutenant of the Lord of Blades, who has vanished while on a mission from her superior. It turns out that people have been using a modified version of Vaunt’s device to rip the souls out of Warforged and turn them into compliant creatures devoid of free will. The Lord of Blades commands the player to figure out who is behind the ‘soul splitters’ and fix the problem… or he’ll take his army to Sharn.”
