Bonus question: What’s your favorite sort of outdoor weather?

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Gotta restock my Star Wars Galaxies Legends vendors, working a bit on farming and ranching in Villagers & Heroes, and maybe will dip back into City of Heroes – our run Wednesday got me interested again. But really I should be hunting for something else where I can farm. I’ve been thinking about trying out Trove’s gardening update next.

Fall warm chill please. Cold enough for long sleeves but not enough for jackets.

Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX): Not really sure… I’m in the mood for killing mushrooms in Black Desert Online so that might be my jam this weekend. I might even try some ranked games in Starcraft 2. I’ve always wanted to git gud at that game and what better time than now!

My favorite weather is bright and hot. Its the best weather for opening your window and gaming.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Still working my way through leveling further jobs and alts in Final Fantasy XIV, steadily and happily. I might be ready to start taking some more time away to try other games out, though. Or perhaps I’ll just keep being locked into this one; lots of things are possible, really.

Honestly, most forms of weather hold some appeal to me; the crisp chill of fall, the calm snow of winter, the fresh tang of spring. My favorite, of course, is a nice thick snow in deep winter, something to huddle up in the house with a fire and cats.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m finally getting around to Patch 8.2 content in World of Warcraft, so flying might be in my near future. Or not. I take a lot of time doing anything these days. Other gaming plans include grouping up with my Dungeons & Dragons Online teammates and pushing further into Southern Mirkwood on the Lord of the Rings Online progression server.

Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): It is Blaugust, and I have promised all 13 of the readers of my personal blog that I will be playing and writing about The Elder Scrolls Online and Neverwinter, so… I will probably play Skyrim all weekend. Again.

Bonus: I like a gentle, warm rain.

Samon Kashani (@thesamkash): It’s going to be another light gaming weekend for me. Guild Wars 2 festival and some activity in the new Crowfall campaign are in order.

Best weather is early spring. Nice breeze with warm sunshine.

Tyler Edwards: Going to start a second run-through of the D&D mini campaign that I wrote using the setting of The Secret World. Not sure about video games – maybe some TSW to go with the D&D campaign? It still exists, although at this point I think I might be the only person still playing. It’s lonely, but it still beats the watered-down reboot.

For weather, hard to beat sunny and -10C. Light snow is nice, too. As long as it’s chilly I’m probably having a good time. I’m definitely ready for summer to be over.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!

Not much gaming this week. Spent some time in SWTOR seeing how far I level up newbie toons on a single XP boost (combined with the double XP and my Dark vs Light 50% XP boost armor). I was consistently hitting level 30 by the time I’d finished the starter world and soloing the first flashpoint… with about an hour left on the boost. With the expansion coming next month there doesn’t seem to be any point in grinding any galactic command stuff on my 70s, but I figure this week I might check out all the stories added in since I last played for real (back at KotET’s launch), and I’ll see if the new story stuff is abysmal or simply just terrible.

Other than that, not much. A bit of Civ 6 (always fun) and I also tried out Shadow of the Tomb Raider (the controls are terrible on this one: really loose and janky). Watched some anime (2018 was so good for anime I seem to feel compelled to seek out the most mediocre stuff in 2019; I’m enjoying myself, but can’t say that I’m watching good anime lol), and movies (Endgame… it’s okay, but really long and I’m finding the “5 years later” difficult to buy into). Spent more time than anything this week getting my house all smart home’d up: now Alexa can play Skyrim with me anywhere in my house.

Have a safe and happy weekend folks.

Another Civ fan, cool. Sid Meier’s Civ series has definitely had its ups and downs over the years, but it is still a great series that I keep going back to when I’m in a serious strategy mood. Finally got my first King-level wins in Civ6 Gathering Storm, first with Germany then with Eleanor’s France. Some game journos said Eleanor was one of the weaker of the new factions, but for me her neighboring city acquisition ability rocks! :D

My favorite weather. So much to choose from. After a hot day, seeing the marine layer pouring over Twin Peaks as the on-shore breeze blows the city’s air conditioning down on us. Never get tired of watching it happen. Never get tired of seeing the cityscape vanish into the clouds.

Finishing up the Republic side in SWTOR. Probably get my last class to 70 and then start on the Imperial side. With the 200% XP until the expansion launches, I should have just enough time to get it all done.

this past week has been mostly about the weather. with it raining and getting cool enough to get some gaming in, but mostly enjoying the niceness of the weather really.

and producing some music and getting it on to the old music stores and streaming services.

did find some time for star citizen though, including some time spent doing some pve content i haven’t done in a fairly long while, the duster nest missions. these are basically a set of timed travel points where bad guys spawn. this mission style will be very familar to old school space sim fans as it’s a pretty typical one for old school space sims.

also been getting rave reviews on this song i produced over the course of a couple days, as well as filming the vid (starring sophie :D). the video was somewhat harrowing as i was being eaten alive by moose flies or w/e but sophie didn’t mind and really enjoyed the walk.

if you’re a spotify listener google music apple music or google music subscriber check out armageddon speaking on those services for my recent album release. it’s not the one i was teasing about some months ago but something newer and quite nice for the summer imo (the older one is near end of production with goal of release later this year hopefully).

stay hydrated out there folks and wear your sunscreen. take care.

My week with Anthem is pretty much exhausted. The only thing left to do is get all the collectibles that spawn randomely for the platinum trophy and with freeplay broken since the game appears to be growing more unstable by the week i’m happy to call it even if i want that platinum for the novelty. Its simply a build not fit for retail and theres nothing that i think can save that game at this point. Other than that with the heavtave continuing combined with rains so bad the military is evacuating a nearby town in case its dam bursts and turns the town into a lake its been too hot and humid for much mmo stuff. Just chugging away at alt jobs in Shadowbringers while agonising over if i want to keep RDM as my main or got to DNC. I know its giving up the raid dumbass insurance of vercure/verraise but when you really pull off the proper combo of all dancers buffs in a burn phase its bloody good fun.

Outside of games Games Workshop launched Warcry today and everyone i knows been assembling and painting their starter boxes. its a very simple game using 8 figures or less played on a small board with lots of terrain set in the chaos wastes. A place with all the charm of the opening cutscene from dark souls 3. I’m almost done with the bases on my starter warband The Iron Golems. Chaos Crazed forge masters from the realm of metal that includes a mean lady with a chain whip, a chaos dwarf and a giant ‘breacher ogre’. I also got cards to use my regular warhammer as little gangs in it but much as i love my goblins and ghouls you can’t play a game where tiny chaos worshipping jobbers fight gang wars without a chaos gang can you?

  • Wizards Unite – Lv 21, the exp crawl begins! But at least accomplished the two-parter Harry themed event, save for some ‘portkeys’ I will hopefully get some luck on.
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record – Reached Ch 4 (of 4, soon 5) and trying my best at fully grinding the current event. And I got Madoka herself in the free gacha pull so I’m happy with anything else I get :).
  • Magikarp Splash – Lv 50s baby! MAGIKARP, SPLASH HIGHER! I GOTTA BE THE VERY BEST!
  • Mobius Final Fantasy – Returning for at least the next month or two due to very frequent big anniversary giveaways and the FFVIII collaboration event, and trying to sort out my progression and understanding of gameplay in the meantime… start Season 2 of the story?

So even more mobile than before, damn. Other entertainment hasn’t been ‘premium’ games nor PC MMORPGs, but catching up on various tv shows, like Stranger Things, Attack on Titan, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and soon Madoka Magica films.

I’ve been house-sitting this week and this weekend, so it’s been me and my 2DS XL. My Switch would have been here, too, but I had to send my joy-cons off to Nintendo for repairs.

I’ve been dabbling in too many games to name them all. But if it’s an RPG on the system, I probably played it recently. Especially if it’s from the Atlus family.

So yeah. Not a lot to say this week. I hope you’re all having a good weekend.

Bonus answer: Any kind of rain or thunderstorm. Gentle or heavy, doesn’t matter, even if I have to be out in it. I can always dry off later.

Game on, Noble! And don’t fall off the roof while house-sitting! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist) :-)

Hey all,

Not a lot new to report this week, alas.

I’m playing a lot of Star Trek Online, even for me, as I’ve got three alts on the go that I’m trying to max out and configure just the way I want them.

I do realize that this probably sounds terribly nerdy, but it’s fun for me, so it’s all good here. :-)

Other than that, it’s been a bit of Destiny 2 and a bit of The Division 2 for variety.

I’m still poking about in Fortnite: Save The World (the PvE co-op side of the game), but I kind of “overplayed” that one for a while, so I need to give it a bit of a rest, so that I don’t burn out on it.

It’s still a fun, and funny, game — at least to me — and I’d like to keep it that way.

Take care of yourselves, and each other, my friends. The only way we get through all this crazy is if we try to watch out for one another.

See you next time!

I felt compelled to say……STO definitely has some issues. It’s rather buggy at times, they definitely push lock boxes way too much, the game has serious power creep issues, and the player avatars are starting to look a little dated. That said, the management of your ships and crew can be a very compelling experience, STO has a multi-dimensional gaming aspect that other mmo’s I’ve tried mostly lack, every now and again the story episodes are surprisingly good, and it has the best free to play model I’ve ever seen in an mmo. Anyway, the good I mentioned is what keeps me coming back to STO a couple times a year.

I finished the MSQ in Shadowbringers. Now I’m working on the Eden normal raids…which I’m just not very good at. And leveling alt Jobs. A bit of STO here and there, too.

Been sketching, trying to get myself back into SWG. Playing mostly Smite, really. Don’t have much to say for now :p

I love the game, but i mostly play the casual modes. I can’t play a moba competitively again ever. It’s too damn tiresome.

I hear ya man. I’ve been learning firsthand about PvP in War Thunder. PvP is definitely not for everyone. In fact I would not have touched something like War Thunder if not for the fact that I’m a big aviation buff.

Reader
Bruno Brito

Never played WT. Competitive PvP really isn’t for everyone, but i like it. My only issue is how it takes out of your time. It requires a lot from you. If i ever decide to play anything competitively, is to make money out of it, and i don’t have the interest in playing the same game 8h a day, everyday, to the point where i’ll end up hating the game itself.

Reader

ghostlight

Yeah, sorry to say I’ve reached that point with War Thunder. That is, I’m hating it now. It pulls you in with a lot of early success, then hits you with a broken leveling and matchmaking system that puts you at the mercy of players who out level you, are far more experienced, have ptw aircraft, and also very possibly using hacks/exploits. So glad I came to that realization before putting any serious money into it. Definitely dodged a bullet with what one, pun intended. I am truly bummed though as I really, really wanted to love this game. Sighs.

Great stuff, as usual, Bruno. Thank you. And hey, if Smite is what it takes to relax and keep your creativity flowing, play on! :-)

Reader

It’s relaxing, but i’m still on my quest for a MMO to call home, actually. Smite fills the…filler role for a game, i guess. It’s fun.

ahh ye gotta love those free and cheap apps for the things they do. i like em too.

it’s actually pretty much all i use this program black ink anymore for is the “filter” type things it does, not that it’s not an amazing paint program altogether (it really is) but i’ve been more in to photography and it really works well with photos and ai generated art being brought together in cool ways.

which i need to work with sundial to see if using ai to construct art would be an interesting project to him to do in his spare rime. since microsoft shut down zochats and i only got a couple ai generated pieces from her (that are surely getting plenty of mileage).

Reader
Bruno Brito

Yeah, Instagram itself is a social app for photos and stuff, so i use it for art. It’s mostly a requirement to live off art nowadays, gotta make my name known.

I quite like filters, because they’re cheap, easy to use, and make some cool effects. I’m still learning the ropes with giving some touches digitally on my drawings, so it helps.

1) Revisiting Star Trek Online after a lengthy hiatus. The game can still be fun to play despite its faults, and the Risa summer event is one of the better mmo holiday events I’ve experienced.
2) Still plugging along with my Illuminati and Templar in Secret World Legends. My in-game time has been down a bit lately, but I’m still mostly enjoying it. The Orochi agent talking to the teddy bear was hilarious!
3) Finally got around to trying War Thunder and mostly liking it so far. It definitely has a learning curve, but all those iconic aircraft beautifully rendered are very cool, and a victorious match is very satisfying. In my big four-engine bomber above the clouds heading for the target I felt like the B-52 in Doctor Strangelove! xD
