Final Fantasy XIV’s Live Letter promises changes coming for Ninja, Samurai, Summoner, and desynthesis

Hello, peoples.

Do you feel like Ninja in Final Fantasy XIV is currently putting out way too little DPS for the amount of effort required to play the job? The good news is that the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE agrees with that statement and is working on fixes. Ninja’s numbers are being adjusted in the upcoming patch 5.08, but in the longer term, Ninja is getting bigger fixes including a change to the way that you use Ninjutsu altogether, with the skill no longer being used between GCD attacks. The overall flow of button presses is being adjusted, which is also being addressed for Summoner. Samurai, meanwhile, is going to be getting some potency adjustments and tweaks to Meditation.

Crafting changes are also being planned for the near future alongside the Restoration of Ishgard, including recipe adjustments for some overly demanding of materials, plans to make overmelding easier, and perhaps most importantly the removal of Desynthesis skill to remove the need to skill it up separately. Check out the full summary of answers in the official thread; there’s no timeline yet on 5.08, but it should be clear that player concerns are being heard and acted upon.
