Neverwinter’s next big thing has arrived in the form of its new module, Uprising, which has officially launched for PC as of today (consolers won’t see it until this fall). As we’ve been covering all summer, this update rolls out a new playable race, new space dungeon (seriously!), a cosmetics overhaul, a newbie experience revamp, and of course, the infamous super creepy cloak that’s given me nightmares.

“Today, Perfect World Entertainment Inc., a leading publisher of live service games, and Cryptic Studios announced Neverwinter: Uprising is now available on PC; launching for consoles on October 1. Gith have arrived in the free-to-play MMORPG set in the Forgotten Realms as an all-new playable race, their eternal conflict with the illithid spilling into the caverns of Undermountain. Halaster Blackcloak demands retribution from the adventurers who have occupied his domain culminating in an all-new 10-player End Game Trial, new PvP content including gear and a map, a fresh ‘coat of paint’ on Protector’s Enclave, recrafted Early Game experience and much more.”

Worth noting is that the Gith are playable only by VIP subbers for the first two weeks before opening up for everyone. Here’s all of our Uprising coverage to date, along with the launch trailer – have fun!

Good game. I’ve stopped playing but will definitely jump back in if they have a graphics upgrade.

Is it only me that feels strange hearing a dungeon and dragons games going to space? lol

Are all classes locked in place when using skills? I swear I find it annoying that I can’t dodge or strafe in this game. And having to keep pressing f to loot over and over bugs me.

Some classes (e.g. Wizard) have some abilities that have a cast time, which albeit are brief, do keep you in place. Meanwhile, if you are playing a Rogue, you’ll be darting all about with insta-skills, with quite a lot of dodging involved.

As for looting, a couple of months ago, auto-loot was (re)implemented, so there is no more having to press F for everything but quest items, but you do still need to actually run over them.

Wait the game has auto-loot? Is this in options someplace.?

The auto looting is not working for me at all. I just tried it.

Its probably like STO

in STO the autoloot option you still click to pick up but if more items you dont have to click ok on every item, lol

and yes, they call that autoloot

This game has come a long way. I’ve been really enjoying myself over the past couple of months. Casual, satisfying combat and lots to do.

Say that when you reach the end game.

A few things to note:

The Gith are currently only unlockable for VIP rank 3 and higher.
A fix is scheduled for Thursday for the rank 1 unlock.

Anyone who logs in between now and the 9th will get the Gith for free.
After the 9th, the Gith will cost (presumably the same as any other race).

There are a few other quirks of the Gith Pack vs the Gith Booster Pack and such that you’ll want to look into… basically it’s kinda normal if you’re used to Cryptic’s occasionally cryptic store front functions.

YES! They said on stream today a few nuggets about Spelljammer and Gith that I’ll be chattering about in about 3 hours :)

Spelljammer is right next to Planescape for me. Both were fun to play back in my old adventuring days >.<
