Gauss enters Warframe as its 41st playable ‘frame with this week’s Saint of Altra update

It’s about to be a good week for Warframe fans as Digital Extremes is rolling out the Saint of Altra update with the new playable Gauss ‘frame. He’s a kinetic-oriented ‘frame notable for being able to dash across water, smashing into mobs with a shockwave, and charging up to buff himself and give the baddies one helluva freezy headache. The patch also drops the Shawzin Hero Emote, which as we’ve previously covered is effectively your very own guitar hero, right in the game.

“Canadian publisher and developer Digital Extremes is ready to unharness the blazing power and speed of its new Warframe, Gauss, along with a cool collection of enticing updates for Warframe players in the Saint of Altra update coming this week on PC. The fleet-footed Gauss blindsides the toughest of enemies by generating kinetic energy to wield an assortment of powerful moves and Abilities. The popular, endless Disruption Mode introduced in The Jovian Concord has expanded to new planets, mission types, and factions to truly challenge players across the Origin System. And Digital Extremes will soon grant players the chance to upscale an endless variety of fashion frames and Mods with the new ‘Look Link’ and ‘Mod Link’ chat features.”

PC launch is coming this week, while console launch is expected “within the month.”

Full rundown here, am very intrigued by the sound of the Leverian exhibit.

Gauss will just be Mastery fodder for me as my visual processing and reflexes can’t keep up with that sort of speed (I hate hate hate getting Volt speed buffs in missions), but getting Mod Link and Look Link is awesome :)

They showed off the new reward (Echoes of Umbra) originally planned to come with the expanded Disruption missions on last week’s Prime Time, and got so much negative feedback about it that they’re holding it back for a rework and giving us Lua Lenses (which sound much cooler!) instead:

I hate Volt speed-ups. I usually run a Nezha with like 1.40x speed already, and when you add Fire Walker sprint speed goes up to almost 1.75x. That’s PLENTY fast for me. But nooooo…the Volt Fanbois gotta go meth-head on everyone. X_X

Also that whiney WEEEEEEOOOORRRRR sound the Volt speed boost makes is teeth-gratingly annoying.

Absolutely adore the look of the new Frame and I’m very curious about the new rifle. I wonder how useful Gauss will be on non-open worlds. It’s already crazy enough when Volt speeds up everyone in a party and you’re banging off walls on a speedrun. But Gauss looks completely off the chain — in a good way, but how would you even manage this on one of the procedurally-generated, multi-floor levels like a Kuva Fortress?

flamethekid .

just smack into walls and kill everyone.

hitting walls deals dmg to everywhere nearby

Sure, but smashing into walls =/= speedrun-friendly.

Not encouraging the speedrun meta, but it will take some SERIOUS concentration (and anti-nausea medication) to do it well.

I plan to level Gauss once, solo, then jam him in the back of the closet and forget he exists. I hate Volt Speed (so much that I’ve asked repeatedly for it to be a toggle, like the ability to disable the sound of allied Mandachords for when you’re teamed with an Octavia Earbleed.) For me, Gauss’ powerset is basically “press One to puke.”
