A retailer release list doubles down on rumors for an Overwatch release on the Switch

I do crimes.

With the next Nintendo Direct event for fans in the very near future, the rumors of Overwatch arriving on the Nintendo Switch are flying even faster. We already saw the branded case that accidentally went up on Amazon for a short period of time, but now the rumors have been intensified by a leaked retailer listing promising the game will launch on October 18th in the EU. This would almost certainly mean a US release just a bit earlier.

Kotaku is reporting that it has confirmed these rumors with anonymous internal sources, with the announcement itself most likely coming alongside the aforementioned Nintendo Direct event this evening. Considering that Blizzard has been already porting its titles to the Switch, this isn’t exactly a stunning move for any parties involved; still, if it happens exactly as everyone expects this evening, be polite and act very surprised when you find out you can play the game in portable form.

Might be the way to get my partner to play – if I wanted to play it with him, which I don’t really care to, so I’d leave the job of convincing to others :P

Eh, i already have Splatoon 2 on the switch which is a much better game than Overwatch and games like Paladin’s already beat it to the punch on this hero shooter schtik. Throw in having to get all your lootbox funpay minibuy textures again and i wonder what the rate of current owners on other platforms will be on hardware where it will no doubt run worse and be a clean slate to start collecting all your shinys from scratch.

In the meantime they got round to releasing Role Lock in quick play and well its a bit mixed from me. While the games are way more balanced it has also introduced the toxicity that is in competitive games into quick play.

I had several games yesterday with people spending more time telling me how to play or who to play than they spent actually playing themselves. Even one game where I was told as Moria that I wasn’t healing enough despite having 14,000 healing which was gold and also 3 other golds. I was not the one pulling my weight apparently …. sigh

When I mention this as an issue I was told to go play quick play classic scrub, which seemed like good advice so I did. I spent nearly 10 minutes waiting for a game to pop which is less than ideal.

Considering one of the points Uncle Jeff made about why they were putting role lock in quick play was to reduce toxicity and reduce anxiety well, yeah not so much.

I know I shouldn’t let random idiots on the internet bother me but it really did and took the fun out of my Overwatch time yesterday. Going to give it another shot tonight and hope things have settled down a bit but if not I will be giving OW a pass for a little while.

Update to previous post: So tonight if anything is worse than yesterday. I have reported 3 people tonight for racist abuse, one aimed at me and the other two at other folks in the game.

In the end though I just muted both chats for the sake of my sanity. While I feel bad that I might not be able to help someone who is being picked on I do have to think of myself occasionally.

I like playing Overwatch its fun but some of the people who play it are among the worst that the internet has and that really makes me sad.
