It’s been a long, winding, and interesting road for Dauntless, from its bare-bones beginnings to its most complete update yet. Now, after five years of development, the co-op Behemoth-slaying action RPG is becoming a fully launched product with the 1.0 update on Thursday, September 26th.

Version 1.0 — aka Aether Unbound — will see the launch of the Aether Strikers fist weapon, a new Tempestborne Stormclaw Dire Behemoth, a bounty system described as a new way for Slayers to hunt and earn experience, and a new Season Pass full of goodies to unlock and earn. Phoenix Labs promises to continue iterating and updating Dauntless through the rest of the year and beyond with new Behemoths, new weapons, new seasons, and new ways to play.

Phoenix Labs CEO and co-founder Jesse Houston was, as one would expect, full of gratitude to players and testers for seeing Dauntless through to the launch. “Ever since the launch of our technical alpha in 2017, we’ve partnered with you and listened to your feedback. We’ve worked together to make the Shattered Isles a home for millions of Slayers,” writes Houston. “Every one of you has been instrumental in shaping the game into what you see today.”
