Betawatch: Chronicles of Elyria shows off its pre-alpha gameplay

And now, pricing.

It’s easy to be a bit on the cynical side with Chronicles of Elyria as the game continues to… well, not be a game, but mostly offer the drama of players seceding from kingdoms in a game that does not yet exist. However, there’s work being done on the title, as you can see from the latest set of pre-alpha footage. Forward movement! Literally!

We also bid farewell to Caravan Stories this week, as that game has launched. We should have someone on first impressions for that, huh? Let’s check on some other beta news.

And with that, we close the book on the week, or at least the beta testing week. Got some stories from betas you’re involved in? Is something on our list not accurately representing its current test state? Let us know down in the comments!

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing! Check out Massively Overpowered’s Betawatch every week for a run-down of MMOs that are still on the road to launch, even if they appear to have set up a permanent residence in a shed called early access.

With DSS now in full swing, the politics and backstabbing are in full bloom. It’s kind of amazing to watch. If this game sees the light, and I truly hope it does because they have some amazing ideas, it will be the epitome of Game of Thrones online. The map system for DSS is impressive. Now I really want to see what the team can do with the actual game.
