Champions Online’s third anniversary week brings back Dr. Destroyer and his Destroid robots

It’s been some time since Champions Online launched, but we’ve finally learned a great truth about the game’s major villain: Despite his grammatically ambiguous name, he is a doctor who destroys, rather than someone who destroys doctors. (He’s still a licensed podiatrist.) Now that this has been cleared up, the rampage of destruction toward doctors and non-doctors alike makes a fair bit more sense. Your heroes should probably stop him as part of the whole ongoing anniversary event; that seems like it’d be on-brand for superheroes.

Taking on Dr. Destroyer’s Destroids will help you earn anniversary currency, which in turn can be exchanged for various retro-themed items hearkening back to the earliest days of the tabletop RPG that Champions Online is based upon. Plus you’ll get the satisfaction of blowing up robots, which also hearkens back to those halcyon days. Just be rather careful if your superhero is also a doctor; it’s possible that Dr. Destroyer is also particularly destructive toward doctors anyhow.
