Chronicles of Elyria’s Kickstarter-versary funding drive crests $560k, keeps on adding new goals

There must be a pastime of throwing cash in Soulbound Studios’ direction among the members of the Chronicles of Elyria community because the kitty for the Kickstarter-versary crowdfunding event we reported on earlier keeps getting money. Week 3 has officially begun and the associated money raising drive has gotten over the $560,000 mark.

Naturally, hitting these funding milestones has meant an expanding list of in-game items and features. Most recently, players have unlocked a Hunter’s Cloak item, a Hot House greenhouse tent, and the ability to use story points at character creation to indicate which story arcs they want to experience. Since the fund keeps growing, another two stretch goals have since been added: the addition of a subterranean volcanic biome that will be full of rare and unique minerals to find, and the addition of uncharted islands at the far edges of the game’s world for players to discover. These unlock at the $660k and $780k mark respectively.

Of course, getting to those milestones means a bunch of new items to purchase this week in the event shop, including gliders, a mountain goat mount, and a trebuchet among other offerings.

It would be simpler if they just merged into “Star Chronicles of Elyria Citizens” and save all those weary donors from having to throw their money at TWO never-ending money sucks.

I smell Shroud of the Avatar in this. All this has is a bunch of “artwork” to show off what you get in a game that doesnt exist. Concept art? You’ve got to be kidding me… why are these games still alive.. please just die and go away.. these companies feed off making false promises to 30+yr olds in hopes of an escape from the terrible mmorpg market that is today.

This shit makes me sick

Years are passing by and literally no MMORPG that was announced and kickstarted is released, they just keep getting more and more money, building their perfect game. That the whole reason why they couldn’t work with investors in the first place – they can’t deliver what they promised as they promised in time the promised. If ever. “BuT iT’s PlAyAbLe!”, “yOu JuSt NoT a BaCkEr!”, “BaCkErS aRe HaPpY!” my ass. I believed in Crowfall once, as they had a very clear vision of what they wanted to build and yet.

I can’t recall a single MMO, whether Indie or Triple A, that would have launched on the original intended launch date and with all the promised features.

It’s not just crowdfunded MMOs, it’s the whole MMO industry and it just have to be taken into account when pledging money to crowdfunded games – or just your long-term interest to a new game announced to be in development.

Buncha backers will age out first

Well, yes – but everyone should know that a MMO takes 6-8 years to develop until its ready to launch – but then, as we see, they can be around 20 years or more.

By everyone do you include the developers who said they planned a full release of the game in 2017? Because those are the ones that took $7+million and in my opinion had to know that was a lie.

At least, in the worst scenario, the whales are ‘Job Creators’ in the game industry. ;)

Years late, millions over budget and they are adding Stretch Goals. This game is an utter joke. Please look at the current dungeon video and then google Silver Mine Demo COE and compare. Game is going backwards.
