Star Wars: The Old Republic reaches final phase of Onslaught testing, previews Mercenaries and Commandos

Bap-a-dap-daaaa, daaa, dap-a-bap-daaaaaa ~♪

It’s the final countdown over on the Star Wars: The Old Republic’s test server, or more accurately, the final test phase. Yes, there’s still more testing to be done for the incoming Onslaught update, and that last phase of testing is now available on the game’s test server for players to try out improved loot systems, the Dxun Operation, and the planet of Onderon. Of course, there’s no storyline available yet (don’t want to spoil that, you see), but you can earn some special titles and a mount for taking part in the test.

But what’s that? You want to know what set bonuses will look like for your Commando or Mercenary character, depending on your faction? The game has you covered there as well, with a separate post detailing set bonuses and tactical bonuses for the individual specs of each advanced class. (Since, you know, it’s the same basic mechanics with different factional flavor.) So you can have some idea of what’s in the cards for these specializations even if you aren’t taking part on the test server.

I wouldn’t recommend playing this game at the moment, just resubbed and attempted to download the game only to have the launcher stuck at 0 % for hours.

Total scam.

SWTOR’s patcher, while not a “total scam” is… a servant of chaos. Or the Dark Side…

You subbed, so you can pester their customer support people. Or you can disable the “modern” BitRaider patcher, and go back to the one that works:

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below:

, “PatchingMode”: “{ \”swtor\”: \”SSN\” }”
, “bitraider_disable”: true

SAVE the changes.
Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

BitRaider is a p2p patcher, and it’s caused me (and lots of other people) nothing but trouble over the years. Or you can just roll your eyes at the situation, and not play the game – that’ll save you from BitRaider too. :)

Do note that doing the above will force a complete redownload of the client – but since you’re at 0%, that’s not a problem.

Tried that, it didn’t work; I probably did it wrong though. Is what it is, I learned a valuable lesson for $15 that just because EA is multimillion dollar company doesn’t mean it’s in their interests to release a polished product that you can actually down load and play (not my responsibility to make a launcher work).

Wow you can’t even file a ticket for support unless you’re in game. They have a number at least, hopefully I won’t get the same experience I did in 2005 when ever I tried calling Blizzard’s number for WoW Support back in the day.

Oh an surprise surprise nothing a but a prerecorded message saying there’s no one there to offer support even though I just called at 9AM CST when it says they’re open.

Thinking I’m going to file a complaint with my state’s AG just to be a dick.
