ArcheAge Unchained will open its PTS to everyone October 7 but delays character reservations again

Up until this point, the only way you could hop in to the PTS of ArcheAge Unchained was to have pre-ordered the game. That is going to change as the game’s PTS will open its doors to everyone this coming Monday, October 7th. The announcement was made as part of a livestream with the devs this past Friday, which also included several other announcements regarding the game.

Many of these announcements revolve around the ArchePass, which is seeing a number of adjustments. For one, it will not be accessible until characters are level 30, which should stop people cheesing the first couple of ArchePass tiers to get rewards like Labor. The ArchePass time gate will also be shifted to a weekly basis instead of a daily one, and the time to level up the ArchePass will be reduced by 20%.

The livestream also mentions that character reservation should be live today, but a recent tweet has announced that time has once again been shifted to Saturday, October 12th. There are a few other bullet points of interest to players, so make sure to check out the full stream below or scan over this recap for more.

Will there be Europian servers? I mean that are based in Europe, for lower ping… or everybody will play on US servers?

Even if you pre-ordered its hard to get in PTS I had zero luck in 3 days

Always getting “The server is currently busy, please try again” before even getting to PTS1/2 server selection

Thats because it doesn’t start till Monday the 7th

Reader

wrong, those who pre-ordered supposedly could get in earlier

Lazy Peon gave it a good review. All p2w is gone. If they fix the issues on the PTS…. could it be? Could AA finally live up to its promise?

That’s what i’m hoping. In my opinion AA is one of the best MMOs ever made, but that money sink just killed it.

I finally managed to get into PTS – I am surprised the tutorial has now voice on npcs too – not just the helper that tells you what to press etc. I wonder if they added voice to most npcs

Reader

To add to my own post, no they just added voice to npcs of the tutorial but it would be nice if they added more of it in the future on npc interactions

I still don’t think the labor system should even exist.

Reader
rafael12104

I understand. It was exploited to hell and back. But I suppose it depends on how quickly you regen labor in AA Unchained.

I don’t like the mechanic either, but might be passable if you don’t have to buy and sell labor potions.

In Unchained you regain 10 labor per 5 minutes both online and offline with a cap of 5,000, exactly as if you had patron status on f2p servers.

Here’s the point i usually make: Archeage core systems are tied to the possibility of monetization. The labor system itself is a dam to control resource flooding in the market, but there are exploits to circumvent that, not forgetting that it’s irrelevant, because by paying, you bypass the safety locks in place.

Regrades are nothing short of p2w. And it’s a system in the game.

I’m finding extremely baffling that after all this time being nickle-and-dimed, they have the gall to actively put a BOX PRICE on a already launched and failed game, and people are falling for it, for pure desperation of playing a non-p2w server. They could simply launch new servers without all the monetization schemes and pump it full of cosmetics. Done and done.

Well, we will soon see if that is what they have done. From the little I’ve seen online, it looks like that did exactly what you suggest. The systems are changed.

They did not replace or remove labor, but it looks like they removed buying and selling labor and evened the scales between online and offline. This might work. If you burn through 5000 labor in a session building something cool. It shouldn’t take long to get enough labor back to do normal day to day stuff.

BUT to be fair, regrades are something that I have not seen shown in anything I’ve seen on twitch or in review vids for Unchanged. Not sure how they are going to handle that.

Take regrades off, take lootbox off, keep any kind of gameplay affecting experience outside the cashshop, keep labor manageable to the point where you can have small downtimes between sessions ( i don’t like labor but it is what it is ), and i’ll be okay with this game.

I won’t be okay with the box price tho. There was no reason that F2P Archeage was the shitshow clusterfuck it was. I find it pretty hard to swallow that buying the game will make it fair ( finally ).

I do realize that Gamigo doesn’t have money to renew AA tho, and are trying to keep it afloat by doing this, so we shall see.

My understanding of these systems is limited but I believe dungeon, Hiram, and high level crafted gear uses synthesis rather than the old regrading system. Synthesis can still fail but rather than lose progress or be destroyed the item “crystallizes” and can’t be upgraded further until you restore it (but can still be used).

There’s more nuance to it, like I said I’m just not a good person to explain it. From what I’ve heard from others it’s considered a fantastic replacement for the old system though.

Sounds convoluted. I don’t know why they don’t just make so you upgrade gear by changing it to another tier, a la WoW.

And then you make a top tier set of gear that takes a while to be crafted, with rare mats, like Legendaries in GW2, and make it so the gear treadmill isn’t that significant, so the game is more fair and more skill based.

You would have a sizeable advantage with the top tier gear but you would still be able to do something with the lesser tiers ( like Ascended and Exotic in GW2 ).

Upgrades through synthesis are at least much faster than the old system, from what I understand.

Not sure if that “Unchanged” was intentional or just a typo, but either way it’s hilarious…

LOL! A typo on my part.

Man, I want to get back in game but Unchained so far has been a disaster. They can’t keep PTS working for any length of time and now another delay. Crossing my fingers they figure things out quickly.

Just get exitlag. I had constant issues, grabbed exitlag and bam no more connecting issues. Theres a 3 day free trial give it a whirl.

Reader
PanagiotisLial1

Well its a PTS but they needed more servers – I always get server is busy – havent managed to play one minute there. Most of the problems are from overloading so I hope they got enough servers towards demand on launch

Reader
Eamil

I don’t think it’s overloading. A lot of people report that using a VPN and connecting from certain areas (the one I heard was Dallas) makes the problem go away. Something else is going on, it seems like.

Reader
PanagiotisLial1

Not sure but sometimes it delays to load faces too or gets frozen in cutscenes – something that doesnt happen in the live f2p version

Reader

Don’t give in to it, bro. It’s just another scam, another way to milk the franchise. If they didn’t come up with Unchained, they’d have probably had to shut it down real soon.

I bet in 1-2 years Unchained will go F2P for everyone.
