Shroud of the Avatar dates next SotACon event, releases more Episode 2 bundles

Sometimes you have to root around in the Shroud of the Avatar update digest to find the interesting stuff. Digest #352 kind of has this problem, which is mostly about player-made quests and crown shop items, but there are a couple of tidbits of merit in the form of a new SotACon event and an eye-watering Lord of the Isle bundle.

First, the community event: the SOTA International Convention has been set for next weekend, running between Thursday, October 10th, and Sunday, October 13th, in Austin, Texas. Portalarium will be having a number of panels on Friday and Saturday that promise to discuss development and reveal features to fans. Tickets are on sale now for $25.

Perhaps that’s chump change to you. Perhaps you’d rather drop about $7,000 on Shroud of the Avatar. Well, friend, the Lord of the Isle Episode 2 bundle is for you. This bundle is much the same as other bundles of its type, though this re-promote of an older package is now offering an in-game castle deed (the largest any player can own), a unique Lord of the Isle home and your choice of any house currently in the game’s store, a unique dungeon room, early access to Episode 2, a tour of the Portalarium offices, and fine dining and drinking with Lord British, Darkstarr, and Atos at a location to be determined in Austin or NYC. The bundle is still up for grabs but will be limited to 24 items sold in batches of eight… and only two of the first batch are available at the time of this writing.

It is not currently clear when Episode 2 itself will begin, though we know it’ll include “new story, new lands, a revamp of the Quest and Journal system, a Theater System, Treasure Hunting with treasure maps that show up as loot, Item Affinity, Taming system expansions, Customizable NPCs, and expanded permissions for containers and doors.” Updates for the game are currently still scheduled monthly up through March 26th, 2020, which will see the launch of Release 76.
