Guild Wars 2’s Shadow of the Mad King Halloween festivities return October 15

Look, folks, as far as I’m concerned, Halloween season started September 1st. My porch pumpkins went up the instant August ended. So figure that I’m not mad at all that so many MMOs are rolling out their Halloween events or at least teases for their events sooner and sooner every year. And one of those is Guild Wars 2, which today confirmed the community hunch that the Shadow of the Mad King will return on October 15th.

“From October 15 to November 5 King Oswald Thorn’s cruel laughter will fill the air as Halloween returns to Tyria! Play wicked games, tackle the Mad King’s Clock Tower, go trick-or-treating in the labyrinth, venture into the cornfield for Reaper’s Rumble, and more.”

Another year, another showing of Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin special, a timeless classic that hasn’t changed in 50 years.

I’m not implying that there are not any changes from year to year in GW2 holidays but realistically we’re only talking new Guild Hall decorations, a few rare skins, maybe a new race tailored for a mount.

I’m sure I’ll log in and do it at least once.

Mad King’s Clocktower is one of the few fond memories I have from GW2. Easily the most enjoyable/simultaneously frustrating jump puzzle I’ve experienced in an MMO so far.

My favorite Tyrian holiday. o/ It’s always fun to jump in and play the various activities.
