If you’re looking for some multiplayer RTS gaming in what looks like a sort of Civilization-esque setting with nods to human history, then you may want to keep War Selection on your radar, a recently arrived Steam Early Access game that has launched free-to-play on the platform.

The press release received from developer Glyph Worlds boasts a variety of single-player and multiplayer modes, with multiplayer matches supporting up to 62 players at once. Matches let players choose a culture and a country which determines their playstyle, then starts players off in the Stone Age to move up through eight eras into modern times. Match modes include team-based, free-for-all, and Armageddon mode, which will see the smallest civilizations bombarded with meteors.

The game is free-to-play with an optional subscription plan that will unlock subscriber-only matches that feature additional technologies for players to unlock and earn, the ability to make private matches, and participation in votes for which features get added next.

According to War Selection’s Steam page, the game will exit early access once its storyline campaign is complete. For now, you can take a look at the video below for a little primer on what to expect.
