Like many folks out there, I still have WoW installed on the ol’ pooter. The only reason is I really enjoy my WoW fam quite a bit. It is a fantasy after all and I can still enjoy the initial intent of the game.

Massively OP has truly done an admirable job with their coverage. LOL, whenever i see a Bree story, I just braes for an enthralling and possibly controversial story!

KICK BUTT, Bree!

As a (former?) Blizzard fan, it is a very difficult time. I’m still playing, but I cancelled my pre-order of Warcraft 3 Reforged and the Virtual Ticket. And I’m not spending anything for the foreseeable future for Hearthstone packs. Thankfully Diablo 3 is free-to-play. No idea how long I can sustain this…

Been quite the newsweek! Thanks for keeping up so well on all the madness.

As for Blizzard, I really hope Blizzcon is a disaster personally, they deserve it not to go well for them.

Blizzcon becoming a disaster will hit the hardest millions of fans

I’m still just upset that a really fun idea I had planned for this year’s convention (instead of last year’s bingo) is now being tabled, because we don’t feel keen on dropping that in wake of recent news. It would have been cool.

And by tabling cool stuff you punishing MOP community rather than Blizzard. So Id say, untable it. And do Blizzcon coverage too. MOP stuff was pretty clear they didnt like Blizzard’s actions, no need to drag it where it affects your readers

Im pretty sure Blizzcon will have at least 2 big announcements this year (new WoW expansion and Diablo 4) and both will leave fans very happy despite political shitstorm. We’ll see

or at leats will announce 2 things not due out for 5 years in a desperate attempt to distract people from real life issues with videogamezz!11!

Congrats Bree, Justin, and Eliot! Your gaming podcast managed to cover more relative foreign policy relating to China then an entire 3+ hour democratic candidate debate. Which one of you wants to volunteer for the name on the ballot write-in next year?

Either way, thanks for the SotA laughs and holding Blizz’s beer for them.

Are we ever going to get the “Developers/Game Execs behaving badly” tag I suggested sometime ago? o.O

We use “this is why we can’t have nice things” and “mature adults acting in mature and professional ways” :P

Funny how different the reality is on SotA with people on the forums and Chris whining about lack of press coverage or people not ever reaching out to them with questions. I’m curious if they referred you to Portalarium’s legal counsel like they have on the forums who just so happen to specialize in bankruptcy.

They didn’t reply at all fwiw.

Did you try CCing their lawyer by chance? I remember your list of questions especially regarding the SEC stuff which should be in that realm at the least. What’s funny about this transfer of ownership is that an LLC isn’t allowed to issue stocks like the previous Seed Invest did as Portalarium and Catnip/Chris is assuring people that if they do well the original shareholders will see returns.

Yep, the attorney, and Chris and Starr too.

Ah the good old stonewall technique and blame everything on unfounded speculation. It’s just so hard to turn away from observing this train wreck with all the lessons that can be learned on what not to do.

Reader

Portalarium/Catnip can’t fault anyone but themselves through the whole development of this train wreck.

Keep looking if you dare – a thread of players trying to figure out if anyone is getting information from the attorney is rapidly turning into a “hey, no one is hearing back and seedinvest is responding that they think Port is out of business because Port doesn’t respond”. Car crash, surely to be deleted in the near future –

Just want to say thank you for your coverage of all the “mess” that occurred in the past week. You all have been outstanding and been doing great work to keep things updated throughout the week.

Bree I can sympathise with your husband as I play a lot of Overwatch too. Its been hard not to click the launcher automatically when I fire up my computer in the evening.

I haven’t uninstalled it or deleted my account but it does feel wrong to play Blizzard games at the moment so I have been distracting myself with Elite: Dangerous instead.

This whole saga just leaves me feeling sad for a lot of reasons that I won’t bore you all with but yeah not a great week for the mmo / gaming, sigh.

Thanks for a fantastic and insightful discussion and dissection of the Blizzard situation and the current “Storm of the Century” MMO bad news tsunami we’re having.
