Star Trek Online brings Awakening to console and launches a breast cancer charity event

Let the games of catch-up begin! Star Trek Online players on PS4 and Xbox One can now get the same stuff that PC players have had for a little while now with today’s official launch of the Awakening update, along with a special charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.

The stuff in the Awakening update should be old hat to most, including a new episode starring Star Trek Discovery’s Anthony Rapp, five new Patrols, a new Task Force Operation, and the Mycelial Crisis event that lets players earn a tier six Elachi ship. New UI elements for accessing Patrols and Events are also added, and the new Klingon Balth and the U.S.S. Somerville ships can be purchased starting on Monday, October 21st, in the Intel Science Bundle.

What’s genuinely new to Star Trek Online players is the start of a charity drive in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. STO has teamed up with Groupees to sell a special bundle of in-game items including pink Tribbles and tier six starships, with 85% of the proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation up to a total of $75,000. Details on this special charity event can be read in this blog.
