World of Warcraft: Classic is getting Dire Maul today ahead of the rest of Phase 2

Please come back.

Sorry, guy; you might know Mordenkainen’s Magical Watchdog, but you never actually said you were casting it, so now there’s ogres. Among other things, anyhow. Yes, World of Warcraft: Classic has opened the doors for Dire Maul ahead of the game’s other phase 2 content, allowing players to delve into the ogre antics that come along with it. It will also allow Paladins and Warlocks to undertake their class mount quests, so that’s another set of antics to delve into if you want your high-speed mount for less money than normal but plenty of time spent doing a quest.

For those of you who are more interested in the game’s retail incarnation, you’ll still have something to watch as the Ny’alotha raid moves into testing on Thursday and Friday, giving players first looks at the encounters that lay within. Specifically, it pits you against Maut, Wrathion, Ra-den, and the Prophet Skitra. It’s all on testing, of course, so don’t get too bent out of shape if you don’t get the drops you want. You can’t take it with you.

If you’re thinking that all of this seems a lot like a way to deflect attention from Blizzard’s ongoing public relations fallout the same way it cancelled a launch party and is no longer interviewing people after esports matches, well… we can’t definitively say you’re right. But it sure does seem likely, doesn’t it?
