Book of Travels announces an October 24th launch date for its Kickstarter

The word “unique” gets swung about a lot by video game and MMO PR folks, but the upcoming Book of Travels certainly appears to actually make itself stand out with its stated focus of “community, roleplaying, long wondrous journeys, and unpredictable events and meetings.” If all of that has you eager to provide support to developer Might and Delight, then your opportunity is soon coming as the devs have confirmed their Kickstarter launch date.

The game’s Kickstarter was supposed to launch this coming Thursday, October 16th, but has been shifted to next Thursday, October 24th, instead. According to the latest newsletter, the delay is due to the team’s desire to make its crowdfunding page “the best it can be” while using this coming Thursday to drum up hype for the funding drive. Subscribers to the game’s newsletter will be given one final reminder the day before, but feel free to mark your calendars now.

Nothing deflates my hype these days with a cool trailer that I’m interested in than the words Kickstarter or Early Access when it comes to MMOs.

Game development is a very depressing affair.

All too aware. Have my own hobbyist passion projects that I may release into the wild once they reach my own personal standards and am currently doing audio on a project that ironically probably will have a crowdfunding campaign of some kind in the future.

Getting more cynical and grumpier the older I get, that and getting burnt on previous Early Access and Kickstarter MMOs didn’t help as they tend to have pretty similar issues that none of them seemingly learn from.

All sounds very nice but there are so many kickstarters these days and they all seem a long way off . I doubt we will see this released until the mid to late 2020’s but even then it might still be out before Star Citizen .

Nice style. I’ll look forward to 2027 and beyond.

This looks gorgeous. I’ll be interested to see how they describe it in the kickstarter. I’m still a bit confused as to (1) how multiplayer it really is and (2) what the primary gameplay loops are.
