WRUP: Yes these are all of the good words edition

Some of the words are here.

As a long-time professional… write… person… writeranarian? Write-maker. As a professional for whatever my field is called, some people think it is my job to know all the words. This is not correct. The only words you have to know are the good words. All the other words are optional and frankly there to fill up space. With that in mind, it’s time for the big professional WJ (write-jockey) no-no as I tell you all of the good words.

  • Nouns: Butterfly, Apple, Pie, Rod, Masthead, Sword, Staff, Scale, Chair, Box
  • Verbs: Fly, Fart, Console, Matriculate, Expound, Say, Wobble, Glrompf (*)
  • Adverbs: Fatly, Ang Lee-ly (*), Majorly, Appropriately, Sexually, Glrompf (*)
  • Pronouns: They
  • Adjectives: Sticky, Sweet, Cold, Moist, Electrified
  • Glormpfs: Tangent Butter, Angry Muskrat, Angrier Muskrat (*), Goose Goose Goose Goose, Mag-a-pag-bag, Nougat

Note: (*) denotes a Good Word generally frowned upon by writeratrices following Vatican II/NATO agreements.

Those are all the Good Words. Use some Good Words to explain what you’re playing in this week’s What Are You Playing. Or use some other words, if you must.

Bonus question: What’s your favorite large mammal? (“Large” in this case means “bigger than a human being.”)

Andy McAdams: I picked up The Elder Scrolls Online again last weekend and I’m having fun putzing around there. Probably logging in to say hi in Final Fantasy XIV and playing some Minecraft as well.

Favorite large animal… uhhh, clearly not a bear. Let’s go with an elephant. I hadn’t really thought about it before, I’ve not categorized my favorites by size.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Probably just phone games (what, don’t you guys have phones?) as my weekend is booked in the best way. I’ve been playing City of Heroes and Star Wars Galaxies Legends this week, though, and I finally got my Hexed outfit for my Necromancer in Guild Wars 2.

For the bonus, probably blue whales. Everyone should try to see the life-size blue whale replica in the American Museum of Natural History sometime if you ever want to feel extremely tiny. Or maybe horses. Can I say that without being a horse girl? OK, maybe I’m just a horse girl. Okapi are pretty badass too. Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I have had a lucky couple of days in Dauntless, which saw some exotic item blueprints drop, so I’ll be chasing materials to build and upgrade those. I also accidentally screwed myself in Star Citizen and got myself a crimestat of 1, which prevents me from landing in Lorville and trying all the new 3.7 stuff, so it’s just basic mission running for me until that wears. Sad times. I’m also going to level up either my Black Mage or White Mage in FFXIV, I’m just unsure which.

My favorite large mammal is the Clydsedale horse. I was lucky enough to pet one at a state fair once and it was this absolutely monstrous beast with this kind of aura of curiosity and kindness. I was in awe and still am awed by them.
Colin Henry (@ChaosConstant): With any luck, I’ll be playing a game of my own creation by the time the weekend is over. Some friends and I are taking part in a game jam, a challenge to create a game in under 48 hours with a theme that won’t be revealed until the start. Once that’s done, I’ll be farming The Mad King’s Labyrinth in Guild Wars 2. With a zerg, it’s a great, mindless way to make money and grind for xp.

Do kangaroos count as a large mammal? They’re a little taller than an average human being.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Now that I’ve beaten Code Vein it’s mostly just… pawing at new game plus there for alternate endings and waiting for DLC. Also, with a date for FFXIV’s next patch, that’s added incentive to double down and get some Moogle tomestones on alts. Don’t you love it when circumstances align nicely?

My favorite large mammals are bears, because… well, my marriage. (And today is my anniversary, so that’s on my mind.) Second favorite is the mighty orca; third would probably be the impressive rhinoceros, which was my grandfather’s favorite. Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m trying to wrap up the last bits of Vales of Anduin content for Lord of the Rings Online so I can be ready for the expansion. I’m also trying to learn the ins and outs of ArcheAge, although I still feel very lost at this point. Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I hope to get in some ArcheAge Unchained and Pokemon Go this weekend, around working at the day job and handling family obligations.

As for large mammals, I like cows. Cows rock. I loved the ones we had when I was growing up and the ones that come to greet you along the fence line of the dairy farm across from my mom’s house. Purely by coincidence, they are also my favorite large mammal to eat. Samon Kashani (@thesamkash): ArcheAge Unchained as much as possible but I’ll also play through some of Guild Wars 2 Halloween event. Even if it’s all a repeat, I always enjoy it.

Favorite large animal would be a cow. Milk is great in all forms. Also, cows are delicious. Tyler Edwards: Continuing my Mass Effect: Andromeda replay and maybe some Anthem, though the holiday event seems a bit underwhelming.

Bonus question: Can’t say this is a matter I’ve ever given any thought to, but… maybe elephants? They’re basically giant lawnmower-tanks with tentacle-noses and a surprisingly high degree of intelligence and empathy. That’s pretty cool if you ask me.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!

Still WoW Classic, since I’m paid up for six months. Level 46 shaman. Just finished healing ZF and got my carrot. Ran the niece and nephew through Shadowfang.

Playing the sick and can’t sleep at 3 am game. Its not much fun to be honest and I would certainly give it a bad review on steam if I could concentrate on my computer for more than a few minutes.

Hope everyone else has a safe and fun gaming weekend.

I tried to get my low-level dwarf runekeeper to Erebor for Durin’s Day in LotRO, but gave up after dying too many times. Oh well. Spent some time on my social alt at the Harvestmath festival running around the Haunted Burrow like a crazy person looking for God Knows What.

Meanwhile, I’m waiting for Trove to introduce the Halloween event, but I have a sneaky feeling that over at Gamigo it’s all hands on deck for ArcheAge Unchained‘s unchaining, and I’m starting to wonder if they just decided to skip Halloween in Trove-land this year.

I”ll probably take the time to fire up some old school Oblivion., and check my backlog for something suitably horror-themed to fit the season.

Have a great weekend everyone, and stay safe out there.

What am i playing indeed.

What i would love to, is to stop jumping from old MMO to old MMO trying to find what i like, sadly.

I’m playing an Classic Ragnarok server called OriginsRO. While i do recommend, the server is pristine, and the admin pays it without donations, it’s classic ragnarok. It’s grindy, time consuming and really boring at some times.

I keep saying to myself “log into SWG!” but i never get through it.

Smite too. My favourite moba to chill.

And, i’m playing Neverwinter. There’s an russian classic server right now, in module 2. It’s really fun, and way better than that crap that PWE brings to us.

Drawing-wise: I’ve been only sketching these days, since it’s what i enjoy the most. I liek goblins, and shamans, and goblins shamans, and there’s a dwarven samurai hehe.

Now, someone teach me to take pictures.

Involving (making a case for the gerund here)
Fast, fun, trivial, partly easy, partly difficult
It must be Destiny 2.

Large animal, the buffalo. Master of the plains. Which brings to mind that discounting (a gerund!) cats as the superior race and therefore not eligible, my favorite small animal is the prairie dog. Obstreperous, cute, communal, watchful.

I love those words. I am stealing your list and I am not ashamed.

Our sales guy and scheduling folks conspired to screw me over so I spent all day long working instead of doing fun things. When I get a minute to do fun things, it’ll still be FFXIV. But tomorrow is cheer competition for the kid, so there will be no fun time then either.

I suppose I have to call a panda my favorite large animal, just on principle, but manatees are like the panda of the sea, so they’re pretty cool too.

This week: And why this week has taught me that why my personal pigtail’d beliefs and value likely lie left of *AOC, I could never support a political structure as the one China has. In fact if I was over there, I am pretty sure they would be carting me off to their crowbar hotel establishments Ai Weiwei style in a heartbeat. So bleh! >.<

*Note: That's not Age Of Conan!

Also this week: Really getting back in Lyn & Soul. And learning to be quiet about my activities in [Redacted] Retail for now. o.O

And finally: Here's a little something I've been working on. (Please see image attached!). Lot's of fae folk, Wiccan and weird things. All banged out at a local coffee shop on a pencil and an overly active imagination. Still very much in the rough and should of been done this past spring. You know, procrastination and stuff…one of my 7 deadly sins :(

…but enjoy!

Have a great week and weekend folks! <3

Lovely! Your work is always so interesting and packed with imagery. Your sketches are superb. Do you do the same thing with paints?

Reader
Utakata

…paint? The nib ends of the pigtails are a bit too big for the fine work I need here. Though I used them once to help paint a house. >.<

(More seriously though, I have painted before. It's just not my medium. :) )

Always a pleasant surprise when you share your artwork, Uta! It always leaves me wanting to see more. I realize, though, that the art can only happen in its own time — just don’t be afraid to share more, if and when you have it!

This weekend I kind of lazily finish up my FFXIV GARO grind since I’m in the final stretch and have two weekends to finish it. AST is currently level 56 and I need maybe 3-4k wolf marks at most to get the last things that are going away for good with 5.1. Also will do the Halloween stuff at some point.

Beyond that, don’t really have any other gaming plans so it’ll probably kind of just be ‘whatever I feel like’ when not playing XIV or watching stuff on Netflix/Twitch/Youtube.

I need clarification on one of the good words. You list “fart” as a verb, but not as a noun. Is it unacceptable to use it as a noun?

Playing: ESO still.

Bonus: Orca are awesome. Beautiful, powerful, and probably smarter than any other non-primate. Possibly brighter than all but one primate species. And that species is a bunch of dicks.

Yeah, that supposedly-apex primate species is … problematic … to say the least.

Be well, Bryan,
