Back in September, we told you about a new Green server being put together by Project 1999, the EverQuest emulator that got a written blessing from Daybreak Games to operate. The Green server, you’ll recall, is meant to recreate the classic EQ experience with plans to release patches and expansions over the course of the next two years. The developers of the project now have an official launch date for Project 1999 Green of Friday, October 25th.

The launch date comes with a new trailer as well as a number of features such as a List system, achievements, and reduced spawn times for low-level mobs. There will be only one Green server at launch, but a second may be opened up later if populations reach a certain threshold. The devs are also considering feedback regarding a merge of the Green and Blue servers and have stated that they will “leave the door open” to the idea, but they also recognize that “a lot can change in three years,” which would leave the Green server running independently.

For those itching for some “real” classic MMORPG gaming, mark your calendars and return to the low-poly days with the trailer below.
