First announced in April and delayed until October, Star Wars The Old Republic’s Onslaught expansion is finally launching this afternoon. As we’ve been covering for the last many months, Onslaught includes the continuation of the storyline, the new destinations in Onderon and Mek-Sha, the four-person Corellia flashpoint, the Dxun raid, new gear, and new benefits for the Legacy system.

“War between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire blazes across the galaxy. Crucial resources dwindle as piracy and crime escalate dramatically. Amid this chaos, the Alliance Commander has the chance to tip the scales in favor of either faction, committing their elite forces to decide the fate of the galaxy. As the Sith Empire prepares to make a decisive strike against a newly-constructed Republic shipyard on the planet Corellia, members of the Dark Council see victory on the horizon and begin plotting against one another in anticipation of the spoils. Meanwhile, Republic forces must race against time to muster reinforcements from across the galaxy in order to defend Corellia from the Sith.”

The servers went down at 7 a.m. EDT this morning with a return-to-service ETA of 1 p.m. EDT, which is just an hour and change after this post goes live, so we’ll update here when it’s up. We’ll also have a our impressions of the expansion tomorrow in Hyperspace Beacon; in the meantime, check out last week’s edition, in which our SWTOR columnist Larry previews the content update and what to expect. Here’s the official trailer!

So this one hurt….there’s about 3 hours of new content , this is coming from a casual player.

This took 2 to 3 years . . .

I’m a bit bummed as I wanted this to last for months on end.

I almost resubbed yesterday. Glad I waited. No way I would play again for that amount of content. I ‘ll just jump into SWG and enjoy that.

No cinematic trailer? It seems that someone here no longer have the quality or the amount of money available in the past. All SWTOR expansions received a beautiful cinematic trailer, here we see something made just with the old game engine, so a big step back. Pity.

Are you STILL unable to respect your advanced class spec?

If so, then hard pass. Dont really feel like leveling up a new character because I dont like my current scoundrel spec.

You start as a Scoundrel now.

So, it’s not exactly an “advanced spec” anymore. And yeah, i think it’s pretty boring.

I’m happy with the update so far. Good interface changes, universal storage for crafting mats (yippeeee!), and the combat difficulty feels just about right for me.

For a split second, I thought about firing this back up…thankfully that urge died. Dodged a bullet.

Damn, forgot to sub for the free tentacle people race. Got some vacation time coming up at the end of the month, guess I’ll sub up and finally finish the KotFE/ET content and everything since then.

Hopefully I remember how to play my sage/sniper…

On my way home from work now, it’s dark, it’s cold, its wet (its London!) But there is a light at the end of my journey… let the onslaught begin!… (in about 40 minutes 🤗)
