Star Citizen brings the interdiction-fixing alpha 3.7.1 online and shares the schedule for CitizenCon

With the newest update to Star Citizen, the game has hopefully fixed its little space rock vs. face problem (spoiler: space rock wins). Alpha 3.7.1 is now live, introducing a number of fixes and adjustments to the alpha version of the space sandbox.

The primary fix, of course, is the removal of interdiction by asteroids as well as several other adjustments we previously reported like Mantis interdiction features counting as a hostile act and the temporary removal of quantum drive overheating. Interdiction rates in general have also been adjusted, and there are a number of likely welcome bug fixes like the end of kiosk screen flickering and the removal of the Area 18 “ghost train.”

In other Star Citizen news, CitizenCon is fast approaching and now visitors and viewers alike have a schedule of events to look forward to. Panels planned for this year include planet generation tech, an early look at in-game prisons, a detailed preview of the microTech planet, new ship reveals, and a look at a “new high-octane game mode” that’s in the works. The event all wraps up with a closing keynote that promises a “presentation you won’t want to miss.”

CitizenCon will be broadcasting the Anvil Stage panels on the Star Citizen Twitch channel and uploading panels from the Croshaw Auditorium to YouTube after the event. For those who are going to Manchester, UK, information on how to get to the events as well as explore the local city are detailed here.

3.7.x has gotten me and snelly back here and there with some exciting action involved to boot

i had been training snelly how to dogfight maybe a little hopefully when i decided to pursue a connie phoenix headed to yela from port ollisar. fun excitement and murder then proceeded to commence.

following up on that adventure the next time i logged in (to do some foip testing with new camera) this little bit of come uppance happened and it was quite pleasing.

in both cases i regret that i didn’t have voice comms recorded as i continue to adjust xsplit broadcaster to my desires.

anyways thanks to xsplit i now can give a glimpse into what’s going on inputs wise from me to a degree for that high octane supposedly only doable in decoupled maneuvers i don’t think twice of doing normally and don’t understand why people find them impressive on reddit when random people in big streamer guilds do them.

anyways i betchyall 5 aUEC the new game mode is star marine pve of some kind, for those following the news over the past year, you’ll probably stay on betting against that but i’d be interested to hear ideas on that one even if i already called the obvious go to there lol

A Star Marine PvE map seems likely, but I think another possibility is a “Combined Arms” scenario. Space and FPS combat in the same map.

It’s something relatively unique to SC, and having a smaller-scale server featuring both space and ground combat (against players or AI) would provide them a useful testing ground for things that have to work well for SQ42, as well as being darn spiffy to play in.

And yeah, if you somehow need 5UEC for somethin, just let me know – I’ll even splurge for 50 if you’re just a little short on buying that Hammerhead. :)

haha that’s a good call too. it’d be interesting to see for sure given the campaign for such things the past few months in particular.

November gonna be wild. New WoW expansion on Blizzcon. New stuff reveal at Citizencon. Hopefully, they show both Microtech and Crusader plus new SQ42 footage

Yeah, running into things at 1,200 m/sec. isn’t good for your ship’s paintjob. Or wings. Or hull…

This is the surviving half of my Origin 325a, limping in for repairs. Since I made it, can I call it a draw? :)

Really looking forward to what they have to show this year, hoping for some stuff on SQ42 as well.

Also I am so pleased to see the hate/troll filled comment sections of the SC articles has stopped, that was the main reason I stopped coming here like a year or more ago.

Thank you for still covering SC I really appreciate it MOP.
