Aura Kingdom’s new class lets you literally be a Rock Star

Whether you want to get glam or get metal, Aura Kingdom’s newest class is going to let you bring an axe of a different sort to a fight. Say hello to the Rock Star class, and wonder why other MMOs don’t have this exact same option if you’re anything like me.

The Rock Star can use “the power of Rock” to “give mighty powers to their skills” according to the press release, and can also enter into a performance mode when in certain locations to let players create their own music. The Rock Star class is also the only one in the game that starts off at level 85, though players will either need to already have an awakened character or use a character boost card.

The recent update also brings some new floors to the Sky Tower, a new five-player Mirabelle quest, and a new Gaia Chronicle event. Information on all of the latest content can be found in the patch notes.

The Aura Kingdom is not a medieval fantasy game as some have said. It’s an Anima fantasy game that can mix in all kinds of genres easily. A rockstar class would fit into this game. The game does have a bard class and classes with guns and cannons. Plus the dual-class system is awesome. So you could have a rockstar/bard if you want to.

Bards need to make a comeback. Last game to do a good bard was Vanguard

Champions Online has a Rockstar class, but it’s mostly about the chance of bashing people with either a regular acoustic guitar or a Fender Stratocaster among other things.

“Say hello to the Rock Star class, and wonder why other MMOs don’t have this exact same option if you’re anything like me.”

Other games very much do have that same class. They’re called Bards. Just Electric Guitars don’t make a lot of sense in most medieval settings.

And when they do add something more modern to medieval type MMORPGs, like something resembling a motorcycle, a great many people complain about breaking immersion and ruining the setting. So of course most games won’t have Rock Stars playing Electric Guitars.

But bards are one of the oldest original fantasy classes. A lot of games do have them. They are the Rock Stars of their age :P

Yes, but not all MMOs are medieval fantasy settings. Rockstars (or Popstar or heck even Band Geek or Opera Singer) could work in some Modern, Scifi, Superhero, etc. MMOs. Even if there aren’t any such MMOs that would make sense to have a rockstar/musician class (which there most definitely are), it would be a cool idea for future MMO. Music-based classes/powersets/skill trees could go the route of buffs and debuffs (as per the classic bard you mention), sound-based attacks, or even whacking people with their instrument (especially if the instrument is a guitar with axe blades). Or they could mix all three.

So while yes bards exist, and yes they are awesome, and yes they could be similar to a rockstar class, that doesn’t take away from the fact that there aren’t many Rockstar classes in MMO and there is a place for them (or there can be at the very least).

They USED to have bards. Today they are non-existent, even FFXIV made their “Bard” an archer basically with a couple insignificant buffs.
