Anthem commemorates N7 Day with some gorgeous Mass Effect-style Javelin skins

Yesterday, November 7th, was N7 Day, an internet holiday to celebrate the Mass Effect series. As one would expect, developer BioWare has a particularly keen interest in commemorating the series and has done so the only way it kind of can right now: with some impressive-looking skins for the Javelins of Anthem.

Each Javelin has gotten dressed up in Mass Effect costumes of several of the series’ races. There’s an Asari look for the Storm, a Turian skin for the Ranger, a Quarian Interceptor, and a Krogan Colossus. Each of these can be nabbed from the in-game store for 61,000 coins or about $10 of real-life cash. There’s also a “Shepard Shuffle” emote and the “Andromeda Initiative” Javelin wrap available as well.

Whether you see these new cosmetics as the last desperate flailings of a very troubled game, an awesome way to mark a tentpole RPG series, or kind of depressing that such quality work is being done on a rather anemic online shooter, you have to admit that these new skins are pretty gorgeous. We’ve posted images of them below and even have some thoughts on how Anthem could right its ship.

Well, hell. Wish I could say I gave up on Anthem, but I’m not wired that way. I’m still in here, hoping for the best. And yet, whenever I pick up Anthem for a bit of combat, I have fun. Heh.

So here is my Interceptor as a Quarian. Good gravy, what a game Anthem would be if it had any of the story elements that ME had.

It is a bit on the nose that there are dead carcasses everywhere from the Halloween event, isn’t it?

I agree, I wouldve paid for a full ME style rpg with Anthem multiplayer (with no cash shop…)

Trying to milk the last bit since they’ve dropped support for the game officially now.

You dickheads. You were so close to brilliant but you fucked it up. These javelins should’ve been the beginning of an awesome game but instead you shit all over its potential. Fuck you bioware.

Fucking perfect. My favourite skin of the bunch is precisely the one on the Javelin I prefer to play and I have enough ig coins to buy it.

I have a few of those shards. If I could, I would give them to you.

All this does is make me want to play Mass Effect 1-3 again, and wish they continued with it, both with shepard and the ryder twins….

Dayuuum those are awesome! Welp time to load up Anthem for the first time in months just to grab one of these with the coins I had saved.

Those look damn good, but kinda a bummer they’re all paid. Puts a wet blanket on the “celebration” day, especially since the rumored ME remasters weren’t announced.

Guess we’ll keep waiting to see if BW does anything with the franchise anytime soon.

Yeah, they basically did similar with KotOR’s anniversary or whatever in SWTOR. You’d get a special title for free I guess, but everything else demanded money. And I’m pretty sure some of it was stuck behind lockboxes.

I got one of those “paid” skins for exactly $0. Just like other 10+ cosmetic armor sets since May (+4 more coming next week as achievement awards). Sometimes I feel bad for not buying stuff for $$$ in Anthem – its B2P scheme is extremely generous considering its low retail price at the moment.
