Nexon has officially cancelled Dragon Hound

This is what it looks like.

Oh no! Not Dragon Hound! Anything but Dragon Hound! Remember how promising Dragon Hound looked? No, you probably do not even remember that Dragon Hound existed at all, since its development was less marked by genuine enthusiasm and more by a brief announcement and then utter silence for ages. But it doesn’t matter much now, as it has been confirmed that the game has been canned.

For those of you curious about what we lost without the desire to check out the videos below, the title was being built in Unreal 4 and appeared to have at least superficial similarities to the Monster Hunter franchise. No specific reason has been cited for the cancellation aside from Nexon’s ongoing turbulent corporate restructuring; given that Nexon has just come off of a quarter in which it lost plenty of money, readers are invited to make their own guesses. Regardless, try not to fall in love with anything you might see in the preview videos; none of the promises from therein will ever be fulfilled.

Dragon… oh, my, that has some very short front arms. Trex, did you grow wings? I mean, if I had short arms like that I’d be angry too. Not as angry as if somebody cancelled me, but, well, you know…

No! Not Dragon Hound! Anything but Dragon Hound! Think of the children! Won’t somebody please think of the children?!

Yeah, I never heard of this one either. Or if I did, it was in quick passing and I forgot about it because there was never any news to remind me of it.

Dang, I liked the trailer for the game and it was pretty cool looking. I was hoping to play this one too, the gameplay footage was pretty awesome when I first saw it.

This looks… different at least. We could have more different MMOs, sadly not this one.
The city on wheels thing will at least live on in that other in-development MMO that I’ve forgot the name.

I did play it last year at gstar. It was ok, different, and fun.
But not neccesarily a game to play over months.

I remember not playing this game. It was the best thing never.

And by the end of the first video it looks like they were counting on that dumb “cities on wheels” movie to be really popular.

Happily, I did not fall in love with anything in either of those videos.

So I cannot be horribly disappointed.
