PSA: Star Wars The Old Republic hands out a free pet in honor of Jedi Fallen Order’s launch

What does a single-player Star Wars game have to do with an MMORPG like Star Wars: The Old Republic? Free pets, that’s what! In honor of the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, players of SWTOR can get their own free BD-1-inspired mini-pet.[AL:SWTOR]

There’s no purchase of the single-player game necessary and no other strings attached here. Simply log in to SWTOR between Thursday, November 14th and Tuesday, December 10th to get your free RE-1. Observant players will note that RE-1 is different from BD-1 owing to the fact that Fallen Order takes place years ahead of SWTOR’s timeline, so the folks at BioWare took one of the early concept sketches of BD-1 to use when designing this new pet.

That’s all there is to it in order to have a new robo-friend join you for adventure. Scratch it under its chin! Call it a good little beeper! Feel the sting of betrayal as it passively watches you die from leaping into a fight underprepared! Fun times!

Nowhere near as cute as the Fallen Order one

They just put up a Cartel Market armor that’s very reminiscent of some of the inquisitors in the game too.

Nice to see some Star Wars crossover stuff. Even if it’s just a pet. It used to be SWTOR existed in it’s own little pocket reality cordoned off from the rest of the Star Wars Universe. It neither acknowledged or was acknowledged by anything else in Star Wars.

I’m still upset that they never did ANYTHING to acknowledge Carrie Fisher’s passing. Not even a single tweet, IG post or a word on the official forums. Players did, which was nice, but the actual company did not.

Other MMOs did, but not the only Star Wars MMO on the market. I don’t think I’ll ever be over the disrespect that was shown.

Surprisingly good quality for a freebie, definitely a step up from the usual recolored astromechs.

It’s nice, but man does this seem like a missed opportunity for a meaty crossover promotion and…it’s another in a long line of pets : /

Eh, at this point it’s expected. If it isn’t a small freebie then it’s a promotional lockbox.
