Black Desert teams up with anime Berserk for themey ‘grim fantasy’ questing

Anime fans, today’s Black Desert PC update is for you. As teased, Kakao and Pearl Abyss have dropped some transmedia synergy all up in here in the form of a Berserk crossover that inserts some grimdark content in into the sandpark.

“Kakao Games and Pearl Abyss have announced that in collaboration with Kentaru Muira (Studio Gaga) they are bringing the world of hit-anime Berserk to Black Desert Online. From November 20 until December 6, adventurers can experience the grim fantasy of Berserk via new quests, bosses and items. Players can immediately start a questline that will see them traversing the world of Black Desert Online on Berserk themed quests. The quest-line culminates in a confrontation with a truly legendary foe, the fierce demon Nosferatu Zodd. Players will face ‘Zodd’ near the Hexe Marie Sanctuary, an eerie graveyard overrun with all manner of undead creatures. It seems that players might be able to find common cause with an especially legendary knight.”

Over on console, however, PS4 players are getting their own fairy pets, plus the Striker and Tamer classes have picked up their awakenings.

Huh. Wonder if any weapons/armor from Berserk will be featured in the game.

Aren’t you going to comment on this, Uta?

…other than to say the manga could of been greatest yaoi fantasy story ever written. What a missed opportunity. But I stopped reading at the boundary crossing scenes. So I’m not sure I would want my game to be emulating that. So there and /bleh?

I’m sure there’s plenty of art for that online.

…well it did get a bit steamy there between Güts and Griffith. But that fell apart as the story unfolded. >.<

The “questline” is the thinnest veneer of an excuse for some limited edition cash shop cosmetics and another field boss. Since we’re doing 80s manga, personally I’m holding out for a Maison Ikkoku crossover for Christmas!

Well.

Considering that “Crimson Desert” ( yeah, i can’t believe it either ) is coming, it’s fitting that they go with an story that is extremely fond of hiatuses, hah.

I shudder to think what this game could be if they had any kind of decent PvE content. Of course it’s already huge, but I think it could be twice as big.

If BDO had designed it’s classes around a Trinity to allow for really great group content, reduced RNG enchanting significantly, maintained the cosmetic only cash shop, designed the game with trading and group players in mind. BDO would likely be one of the biggest MMOs of all time

If they had done all this, it would be the same old same old. No thanks.

If that is the definition of same old same old, I’ll take same old every day of the week and twice on Tuesday.

Hell they could keep the enhancement system and everything else and I would still play it if it had PvE. I would prefer those things….but I would settle for just having PvE content. Here’s hoping we get that with Crimson Desert.
